Oh, Mouse, this brings back memories. You can't teach someone you love to do something like this.
I think it depends on the people involved. My dad taught me to drive when I was 19 and it went fine. It was stick shift, too. Now, with a personality like Lois' involved, and add a teen with a similar one, I'm not surprised you'd run into problems.
