Absolutely the intent is to believe Nightfall will unite them. I don't want to write 8 year long stories (the length of time it takes me) - so it will be shorter - more to the point - but it will happen, and soon.
When I started LST I had one kid - now I have 2 near adult offsprings - my life is very different. I should be able to devote time to the 'coda' of the story.
