You say you aren't a writer, but to me it looks like you've got a good start on a yarn.
I'd encourage you to give it a try.
Don't worry about how long it might take. Good things take time.
If you've been reading a number of the stories posted here you've been exposed to numerous styles.
Don't try to copy someone else's style, you will develop your own. I think you will find that it is fun.
