I decided to post both these parts today because, for editing purposes, I really had to edit them as a block. So... hope you enjoy.

Oh, I did want to add one thing to this:

“So what are you saying, Kent? Legitimate business deals are not conducted with large cash payments, passed along in restaurants in plain white envelopes?”
I just wanted to add: 'Unless you happen to be a former Canadian Prime Minister' - for all of the Canadians out there. laugh

Let me just say: yay, I knew it. sort of. Well, the obvious plot hints, anyway.

Care to take your wife to the Fudge Castle for the Chocolate Lover’s Supreme? Or do you want to watch your wife suffer from chocolate withdrawal instead? In case you didn’t know, she tends to get really cranky when she doesn’t get her regular supply of chocolate.”

Clark seemed to relax, if only slightly. “I recall reading that somewhere when I was studying Lois Lane 101.”
You just killed me there, ML.

The original creation came with a cherry on top - which Lois always removed immediately and handed to Clark for disposal. Then, very carefully, she used her spoon to remove whatever chocolate had been defiled - as she put it - from contact with the cherry juice before eating.
And that one I can understand so perfectly.

Off to reading part 16.

Michael
It was interesting to see the mixed emotions in part 15. Clark feels allegiances now that he didn't feel when he originally lived his memories. He sees how skewed circumstances misled him.

Also, it was interesting that Lois chose to borrow money from Jimmy instead of asking him to break her into her employee locker. I imagine she could mix him up until he thought he was the one who owed her the $40.

I just caught up with 13 and 14 today...and now I see 15 and 16 evil

James
I could get used to seeing two parts posted at once wink

As usual I'm eagerly anticipating the next update notworthy
I love having two posts to read back to back but you left us hanging!
Great job as usual, I am loving this story.
This was excellent! I'm so curious about the money. What's the story behind it?
The tension is building unbearably. I think we need a dollop of a hint about that fateful interview.
cool

Heck of a story! I just caught up through parts 1-16. I don't know how I missed this. Clearly I should prioritize work better since it's cutting into my fanfic reading. :p Still in the dark here as well, I'm just racking my brains trying to figure out what havoc Clark possibly could have done prior to joining the Star...I barely have idea .3 in my head...I wonder what happened if Lois stormed into the middle of his interview...RAFO!

JD
MLT, I think you are about to unseat Nan as Queen of the Cliffhanger posts!

More soon please.

James
Okay, okay. For those of you wanting a hint about what's going on, I will say this: "Think outside the box."

(was that helpful? laugh )

Okay, so for those of you wanting a hint about that fateful interview, I will confirm that, yes, Lois stormed into the middle of it. (Did that help? laugh )

No one will ever upseat Nan. laugh

Anyway, got to get back to work. Hope my hints were helpful wave

Clark glanced again towards the White’s table and his eyebrows rose as he watched Perry remove his suit jacket, laying it over the back of the booth, before again taking his seat.
Hmm, who lays a coat with $50,000. in it on their chair ...

Luthor looked inside each envelope before putting both in his inside jacket pocket. Clark quickly x-rayed the envelopes. In one was a large amount of cash. The second contained only a single piece of paper. A cheque, it seemed, made out to the Metropolis Literary Society in the amount of five thousand dollars.
but one with a check... Now about those bank records..

Carpenter nodded. “Sounds like a plan. Why don’t you let me see what I can do about that. I have a contact that might be able to help us out.
So Carpenter faked the records?
Interesting observations, Framework laugh

Just caught up, ML - still enthralled!
Sorry, all, for the delay. I got a computer virus and ended up having to completely wipe out my entire computer system.

So... I guess the big question is: Did I lose the story?

Are you ready for the answer yet?

Are you sure? wave
See, if you'd emailed it to me, I'd have a back up for you.

That's the main reason you should email to me.

Yep.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Carol [who is glad that ML's back online]
