I hope this lives up to everyone's expectations. Any ideas, suggestions. Do I need to add anything?

Thanks,
Annie

Lovely Annie, just lovely...

I would have liked to see the first time that he saw his son and his son saw him... and the day that his powers came back and the dilemna that presented... but other than that... perfection can't be improved upon

Annie,

Wow, that was so great (contented sigh). It was such a nice little interlude into their happy life now that Clark is back where he belongs. (Plus, I love that song wink ).

Awwwww! This is very sweet Annie. I love it.

You describe Clark's feelings so good, it's really touching.

I almost didn't read this, Annie, since you said the reader would be lost without having read your previous fics. Since I'm so behind I haven't yet done so, I was ready to give this one a miss. Then I decided to go for it.

Good thing, too, because you did a perfectly fine job of recapping the first two stories with Clark's musings. A lovely little story, Annie, and I'm glad I read it. smile

I had never heard any of the songs that you have based these three stories on and now I love them all, so thank Annie for introducing me to some amazing songs and artist and for these truly beautiful stories.
Seeing Clark so content and happy was just as emotional and touching as seeing him tear himself away from Lois and leave, but done incredibly well all the same! I'm crying into my keyboard! thumbsup

Annie, I'm sorry to tell you that you were wrong; this could be understood without having read the previous two wink

This was incredibly sweet and very Clark-like. I hate it that he missed so much, but what the heck, for the first year or so they're only blobs anyway goofy And it's obvious that he's not going to be willing to miss much of anything else. Not even for the old "saving the Hoover Dam" excuse wink

Glad the Muse's priorities didn't co-incide with yours, Annie. <g> This is a beautiful addition to your trilogy.

I agree that reading the first two isn't that necessary. I've recently read your nfic version of the first story, of course, and I know I've read AA, but so long ago now that the memory for details is hazy. Still, I didn't find myself floundering reading this one.

Have to admit my heart stuttered there for a moment. Lois downstairs? Huh? What? goofy Evil author.

What a beautiful morning, he thought, oblivious to the rain and thunder outside.
Bottom lip starting to wobble here. I was oblivious to the gray clouds and the rain outside my window this morning for the duration that I was enthralled and engrossed in this. What a wonderfully waffy way to spend a few moments, Annie. Thanks for sharing!

Very sweet, Annie. It's a nice conclusion to a beautiful series. smile I particularly loved the explanation about why Lois chose to call their son Jack. It was so sweet that she had been set on "Jonathan" at first because it was what Clark would have wanted, then when their son was born he was definitely a Jack. I can see Lois making such an instant decision upon seeing her son. And I also love the way you made Clark catch up with everything and finally find peace in the love he feels for his wife and son. Lovely. smile

Everyone has pretty much said everything that needs to be said ...

Beautiful, wonderful piece ... too short ... your writing is so wonderful - I want to read more of this great little universe you've created. smile

But I'll take other stories by you instead. Just keeping writing.

I personally don't think anything needs to be added to it. smile

Yes, it is very short, but so were the earlier segments of the series. To me, it's very in keeping with the tone of the first two parts, in that they all show us mere glimpses of time. There were many details left unsaid in the first two stories, as well, but I thought that added to their poetry. We were able to fill in the blanks without having it all laid out before us, and I think that made the entire series that much more poignant.

Thanks for the happy ending, Annie! I normally don't like to read about Clark missing the early years of his child's life, but I think the point is well made that he won't be missing any more big moments after this. I think he's clearly identified his priorities from now on, and he will never take this portion of his life for granted. smile

Beautiful. smile

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments. I'm so glad everyone enjoyed it. I have to admit that I'm happier having written it. Standing at the Edge and All Alone were really hard for to write, so this gave me a chance to make it up to my readers and to myself.

First, it looks like I was wrong about not understanding it without having read the fist two. Glad that didn't deter too many people from reading it. smile

Normally I might agree, but these stories are just snippets and I like to leave most of these types of scenes to the readers' imaginations. It allows them to have the story exactly as they'd like it. And each of those, especially the second suggestion, could be stories all of their own. Stories I'm not going to write. <G>

The only thing that rivals my love for reading and writing, is my love for music. So I'm glad I could share both with you. There are so many songs I hear on the radio that inspire me to think of Lois and Clark's relationship, that eventually I just couldn't pass it up.

ROFTL, Pam!! Blobs! Someday I'm going to tell Michael and Marissa that you said that. <G>

You know, as silly as this might sound, naming their son was a big reason I put of writing this for so long. I just couldn't decide. I went around and around on it. I didn't want it to be too cliched, but I wanted it to be meaningful. A part of me really wanted to not name him at all (the way I did in AA, just refering to him as "their son" "the boy" etc) but I figured that wouldn't sit too well with the readers, and I didn't want to detract from the story with something so silly. I'm glad this worked.

Thanks again everyone. I really appreciated all the wonderful feedback. It's nice to have our favorite couple back together and happy again.

Just to add that I really enjoyed this part, it was lovely! I went to re-read the first two before reading this one, just because I remembered loving them the first time and it was as good an excuse as any to re-read fic! wink
