If it wasn't so tragic, it would have been a funny ending. No, wait. It is funny! Well done!

rotflol

(Nineteen words. What does that mean? Oh yes, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!)

Now it's thirty three...

So, Clark, when you stand around feeling super, allowing the adulation of the woman you love to wash over you...

And that was when the Messenger exploded. If it wasn't so tragic, it would have been a fitting metaphor.
Bursting your bubble!!!! :p

(End of feedback. There are forty-two words in it. Forty-two. Hmmm. Forty-two?

Forty-two, the ultimate answer to everything about life, the universe and everything! Eh, except no one knows what the exact question is... Anyway, that's why this additional blather isn't part of my feedback, even though it's still meant to tell you that this was a groan-funny vignette!)

Arthur Dent's maths is as bad as mine!

Ann
6x9=42 if calculations are performed in base 13, not base 10, which gives the answer 54. Don't you know anything??? goofy
I'm going to stop now, cos I don't have a clue either. According to Douglas Adams, "nobody writes jokes in base 13" (This comes from wikipedia btw.) laugh

Ann quipped:

That Arthur Dent!!! rotflol Don't you think that poor chap had something to do with the fact that the Messenger exploded before Clark could save it?
If he did, it'll be the last time he hitches a ride.

Excellent vignette, Sammy. I think you've captured Lois's shell of cynicism around a vulnerable heart, along with Clark's way with words as an avenue to her heart. I liked it a lot. And don't stop writing them, you hear?

Say, I've an idea! Why don't you write the very same scene from Clark's POV? I'll bet you'd have some excellent insight on his thoughts, too. I know I'd read it.

Er, thanks Ann, but I think I was KO'ed before you. Knocked my head on the spit bucket and everything. blush Someone pass a towel please.

...hasn't he made a joke in base 13, if the answer is 42 and not 54??? Or was that sarcasm, Mr Adams? I GIVE UP too.

Ooooo, Sammy! Niiiiiiiice!

I love first person Lois stories and this was awesome! Very first season Lois - loved the line about watching her raise go to her competition. laugh

I know that this line has already been quoted, but it's just too funny.

Nice, clever way to end it! Great job! If you do decide to write one from Clark's POV, I'll read it too.

Really liked the Lois point of view in this story!!

Sure, I liked that kind of thing, but I had a reputation to uphold
Oh and loved this line about her reputation! Wow is Clark gonna change that in the future wink

Sweet! The third one's a charm, for certain.

Good stuff!

I'm a bit cluess on the joke above, but I think I'll review everything to see what I'm missing. Maybe I'll understand it.

Perry and Jimmy turned towards me and I realised, to my horror, that somewhere during the recitation I had lost all the tension in my body and was now using the column as a prop. And Kent was turning around as well!

“Um, yeah,” I said, managing to at least get my head off the column before he saw me. “If you like that sort of thing.” Sure, I liked that kind of thing, but I had a reputation to uphold.
I like that part! thumbsup
