So Lois meets Laura and Remington. Somehow, I feel that they're going to meet again before too long, and Lois will discover that Laura wasn't entirely candid about their profession <g>.

Keep writing, Brittany. It takes a little while to establish your reputation, but if you keep at it people will read and some of them will come back for more.

I was a bit of a fan of the old Remington Steele show. This should get interesting now that Laura and Steele are in Metropolis.

I wonder how Lois and Clark are going to intersect with why Steele and Holt are there. And, of course, there's the added fun of Superman becoming involved. How will Steele stack up against Steel.

Good start, keep it up.

Sorry I haven't provided feedback yet, but I've been reading and am enjoying your story so far. I was a big Remington Steele fan (and have recently watched some episodes again on DVD) and your characterizations between Remington and Laura are right on. razz - and her dig at Remington when he insists on waiting for Laura to start was both in character to the show and an interesting commentary on how our society still sees women in the workplace. Times may have changed a lot since the mid-80's when the show was on, but I don't think it's a stretch to believe that Laura still isn't taken seriously in a 'man's' profession even today. LNC:tNAoS hinted at the issue as well and Lois' fight to be the best in journalism certainly attests that the prejudices remain.

“You’re THE Lois Lane.” She asked, her admiration unmistakably emanating from her face. “Not the same Lois Lane who gave a speech on, “Woman in Dangerous Professions”, at UC Berkley eight months ago?”
I love it that Laura recognizes Lois, however, shouldn't Lois have been a bit more suspicious that an insurance salesman ... woman ... person would be going to a "Women in Dangerous Professions" seminar? What's so dangerous about insurance? Oh, and Remington Steele was always in the papers in LA. Wouldn't Lois have recognized him, or at least have some niggle at the back of her mind when she looks at him?

I figure that Lois and Laura will join forces sooner, rather than later. Laura certainly wouldn't wait too long to find out what the media might know about those mysteriously glowing gems.

What a woman. Remington thought with a self-satisfied grin. His was truly a remarkable marriage; while most men grew less attracted to their mates, he was only pulled toward her more strongly. Where most men were plagued with constant nagging and bickering, he was blessed with passionate arguments that led to more, amorous, activities later.
He doesn't have much appreciation for wives. Does he?

“Actually it’s funny you should ask” Steele said. A large grin overcoming his, entirely too handsome face, “We’re private in-“

“Insurance salesmen—woman—people.” Laura cut in, giving her counterpart a furious glance “Private insurance sales representatives actually, and there’s a big…uh…um”

“Colloquium” Steele added, catching on. “Yes a gathering, if you will, of the finest minds in personal, private, commerce, and health indemnity. We go every year. Isn’t that right Mrs. Groggins?”

“Groggins?” Lois said, a bit disbelievingly.

“Yes Myrtle Groggins my faithful subordinate, and I’m Anthony Ruggles—assistant secretary general of claims adjustment for Bogart, Peck, and Finney insurance.” He extended his hand politely and Lois shook.
I like the feel of this exchange. Straight out of Remington Steele.

That was back when she was a reputable journalist. Now she was a pathetic shell of her former self, sobbing dejectedly into bowls of high calorie, low nutrition, and fat-filled ice cream—at mid-day no less.
She was? Did I miss something?
