Then his heart stuttered and his eyes went wide. He should stand up. He should call out to her. He should stop her.
Oh, but you don't want to stop her, Clark. Because we all know what she is going to find sitting somewhere close to that award.

Quote
She thought of everything else he had told her. That things were complicated between them. That he was afraid she would never understand. That the truth would hurt her. That he wanted her to notice him for who he was and not for Superman.
I am so glad she remembered all of this.

Quote
"You should tell her," she finally whispered. "Just take a chance and tell her the truth."

He took a deep breath, his heartbeat pounding in his ears. "Lois, it's me. Kal-El."
Full circle. Perfection.

Quote
In the end, it was the need to prove him wrong that stopped her.
This is so true to Lois' character.

Quote
Clark hesitated. "No." That wasn't true, he couldn't lie to her anymore. "Yes." Then, quickly, he amended it to, "Sometimes."
Poor guy!

Quote
The thought struck her that maybe he had purposefully left the rose where she could find it.
Didja Clark, didja?

"You don't have to hold onto me," he said with a shy smile, "but I wish you would."

It was too much and yet, somehow, it wasn't nearly enough.

Lovely, Sue!

But if you're Ann (or just share her sentiments), this story will continue in the nfic folder in a day or two.
I do share Ann's sentiments, at least when it comes to wonderfully well done nfic sequels to great stories. So - YEA!

Oh boy! another story from sue! yeah! This was every bit good as I expected! I love the way the revelation came subtle but powerful. Yea to clark for not running away.

Now to the other side.

didn't even pay attention to when this one was posted, I'll check back.
I'll comment more later, but I just have to say this:

She opened her eyes again to watch his lips. Her eye caught and held on the small freckle at the corner of his mouth, then wandered to the spot on his cheek that turned into a dimple when he smiled.
Oh, wow! Was that sweet, beautiful and sensual, or what? And was it the perfect birthday present for Jojo? Oh, wow. Rarely has a snippet of text made me that eager to join the rest of you and start using Clark's mole at the corner of his mouth as my personal lollipop!

Be back with more later, Sue!

Ann
Sue, I just caught up with this series tonight and then *poof* there was a new installment! (Or should that be *proof*?) Anyway...yay!

This is wonderful stuff, each and every bit of it. You manage the tension between them so beautifully. When I got here:

Quote
"You should tell her," she finally whispered. "Just take a chance and tell her the truth."

He took a deep breath, his heartbeat pounding in his ears. "Lois, it's me. Kal-El."
I was literally holding my breath!

I like this build-up to the revelation considerably better than what they gave us in the tv series, and I like that Lois's response was hurt and angry, yes, but also controlled and rational.

And what a beautiful flying scene at the end of this part! Just lovely.

Thanks so much for this wonderful, sensual series. I've enjoyed every minute of it and will look forward to the nfic conclusion.

Best,

Caroline
I just caught up with the entire series, so I wanted to stop in an offer a few observations.

First, this is a gorgeous use of vignettes to show how Lois' feelings changed over time. The first three installments focus on her feelings for Superman, but, by the Kerth awards, she has recognized how important Clark is to her. She has also begun to subconsciously connect her partner to Kal-El. By the end of the series, she realizes the depth of her feelings for Clark. She is now ready to love the whole man, not just the flashier aspects of his character.

Clark, too, changes over time. He is still fearful of telling her, but his trust in her grows with each interaction. He tells her his secrets, tells her that he's in love, and he continues to give her hints designed to lead her to the truth.

My favorite moments:

-The scene in which he helps her out of her dress. The atmosphere is electric, as desire, fear, and longing all draw the string of tension ever tighter. My, my, my!

-"He's in love with a moron." Too funny!

-The dance at the Kerth awards. It was all about Clark and Lois--no superheroes in the way here.

-"You should tell her," she finally whispered. "Just take a chance and tell her the truth."

He took a deep breath, his heartbeat pounding in his ears. "Lois, it's me. Kal-El."

No more secrets...I love how she helps him tell her the truth.

-The use of conversations from the past to fuel later scenes. The ending is especially strong, where she reminds him that he said that she was the only one who could seduce Superman. Great ending! The theme of "proof" intricately weaves all of the vignettes together. Well done.

"Buss" is an archaic word for "kiss". Just so you know
I know what that means!!

Quote
What would he taste like? She couldn't remember - didn't think she had even paid attention - the first couple of times she had kissed him. But those weren't real kisses - they were only improvised to save their lives or to maintain a ruse.
Silly woman…

Quote
Angry with him for lying, but mostly angry with herself for being so completely blind.
There it is… The reason she gets so angry… at herself…

Quote
Just as quickly her emotions turned to hurt - not that he had lied, but that he had misjudged her as much as she had misjudged him.
I don’t know… Did he, Lois? Would have you have been so calm if you hadn’t had those conversations with Kal-El?

Quote
"I don't want to be." She swallowed and blinked. "Am I really so scary that you thought you couldn't tell me?"

Clark hesitated. "No." That wasn't true, he couldn't lie to her anymore. "Yes." Then, quickly, he amended it to, "Sometimes."
Oh, yeah. A fiery tornado.

Quote
The thought struck her that maybe he had purposefully left the rose where she could find it.
Did he?

Quote
Lois looked into his eyes and wished she could be caught forever in this moment.
Awww…

Quote
She felt the whisper of his breath first and then the touch of his mouth against her barely parted lips. His lips moved, settling over her upper lip. His broad hand slipped to the back of her head, holding her in place for the first airy touch of his tongue against her lip. Then his head tilted, a coaxing motion that persuaded her mouth to open. His tongue slid against hers and she could taste something faintly sweet. She tried to place it - was it the cream soda he had been drinking? His open mouth leaned down on hers, his tongue becoming more demanding in its slow search of her.
Oh, wow, Sue. That’s hot.

Quote
She couldn't kiss him again until she could feel more in control of the situation.
Always in control, Lois.

Quote
She reached up to touch his face, letting her thumb glide across that full lower lip that had been distracting her for days, weeks, months. "Prove it."
I’ll be looking for that next story.
What a wonderful surprise to come here and find your story tonight, Sue! smile

Quote
She tried, but she couldn't think of a good reason to do it. And she had to have a good reason. Otherwise she would be kissing him solely to satisfy her curiosity.
hehehe! Satisfying one's curiosity is a good reason, if you ask me. But then, I'm not Lois, am I. I'd be jumping all over the guy by now. Ooops, sorry, need to remember this is the PG folder. *lol*

Quote
She should go home - preferably before she did anything stupid.
No, no, no, no!!! Lois. You *should* do something stupid. Well, I mean, something *you* think is stupid. Cause if you ask *us* over here, we don't think it's stupid at all. It's actually very, very sane.

Quote
"It's a rose." Lois grinned, using all her willpower not to add the word "silly" at the end.
hehehe! Love that! Very Lois. smile

Woohoo! Story five, all posted--AND I've finished my current audiofic project! Could this night GET any better?

Looking forward to the upcoming part in the nfic section. smile
Oh very nice revelatioN! I loved it and it is my birthday. Nice to read this on my birthday<g> Laura (looking forward to the nfic version.)
Very nicely done Sue...the revelation.

Quote
"You don't have to hold onto me," he said with a shy smile, "but I wish you would."
I think this line about sums this story up. Clark is telling Lois to please not let him go, to hold on to him, to their...relationship? And she responds by...hanging on to him, securely. I think that these inferences became understood between Lois and Clark.

I'll be looking for the next post in the NFIC folder! This was absolutely fabulous, Sue. Loved it!

Happy birthday, Laura. [Linked Image]

And happy birthday to JoJo, too! [Linked Image]
eek This is one of the best birthday presents I have ever gotten. ^_~

I loved it Sue.. I'm so flattered that you actually took my request seriously and posted it though. laugh I JUST got home though to Alabama and need to take care of some things but I shall post more later. ^_^
I figured I would take one quick peek before I went to bed. Zowie! Look! Feedback!

I'll try to go fast, since I'm dead on my feet (well, factually, butt) and I have to get up early tomorrow.

First of all - Happy birthday, Laura! I didn't know it was your b-day! party

Quote
Oh, but you don't want to stop her, Clark. Because we all know what she is going to find sitting somewhere close to that award.
After I took so much care to point out that she still gave him the rose in the footnote for the fourth part you kind of had to see that one coming. <g> A couple of you have asked if he did it on purpose. I think it was one of those subconsciously purposeful things.
Quote
And was it the perfect birthday present for Jojo? Oh, wow. Rarely has a snippet of text made me that eager to join the rest of you and start using Clark's mole at the corner of his mouth as my personal lollipop!
I only loaned that freckle to Jojo (and Laura) for their birthdays. The other 363 days of the year it's mine. Mine, I tell you!

Caroline - I hardly know where to start in my little freak-out that you read my story. I'm still waiting for you to finish Stardust so I can start reading it (hint, hint). I was especially delighted that you loved the tension between them through all of the parts. Heaven knows I think you write the tension between them better than anyone. I was also surprised to see you mention you'll be reading the nfic part. For some odd reason I didn't think you read nfic. (?) The next step, of course, is having you write us all some nfic. grovel

Thanks also to Queen of Aces for reading the whole thing in one fell swoop. I think it has more impact that way - it's all still fresh in your mind. I'm pleased and relieved to hear that you thought it was woven together in a fashion that made sense. Yay!

Nancy - for some reason I just knew that you would know what "buss" meant. Heh. It cracks me up that I was right.

I would trade many, many years of my life for just one moment to be Lois Lane in your story.
Mmmmm - show of hands? You know, I have this running joke with DJ about how things that happen in my stories to Lois eventually happen in a roundabout way to me. (Dead hard drive after her laptop was stolen, wrecked car after Lois crashed the Jeep, severe stomach cramps after her morning sickness, brakelights just died after they pulled out the wires in Nigel's trunk...) And yet, never even once has Clark shown up to ravish me. So I'll just keep writing these stories until that happens. We may be here for a while...

Ah, Sheila! Gold star for you! Yes, it was meant to be a metaphor.

Jojo, I'm glad you made it home safely and that you liked the story. Trust me, it was the least I could do for the girl who gave me Engrish, Superman stamps, an Angry Clark button and hours and hours of laughs.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate hearing from you!

Well, I did hear once that *our* Clark (aka Dean Cain) has been known to show up at a certain annual Hollywood type event up in one certain canyon…. Maybe you should make friends with a certain red head that lives in said canyon…. (I bet you know of what [and whom] I speak…)
Sue,

Well, I joined the mbs so I could tell you how much I was enjoying your Proof series. Imagine how happy I was to find this tonight! It's wonderful, breathtaking, heartbreakingly fabulous.

Quote
It had to happen soon, that much she knew. She had finally admitted to herself on the night he won the Kerth that she had spent the last year falling in love with him. Months and months of gradually increasing acquaintance had changed him in her eyes from a hayseed to a valued friend. More than a friend, she hoped. Much, much more than a friend.
Yes, oh yes, how wonderful is this, to fall in love with your friend.

Quote
She nuzzled into the space between his chin and his shoulder, inhaling the clean, familiar scent of him.
Hm, yes, men smell so good when you love them...

His tongue slid against hers and she could taste something faintly sweet. She tried to place it - was it the cream soda he had been drinking? His open mouth leaned down on hers, his tongue becoming more demanding in its slow search of her. The weight of his kiss tilted her head back into his palm.

Dizzy, my god, she was so dizzy now. It was too much, floating with him like this where he was the only solid thing in the world. It was too much and yet, somehow, it wasn't nearly enough.
Nope, not nearly enough. I guess I'm going to have to ask for access to the nfic side.

Quote
As her feet touched onto the patio she tilted her head back to look closely at him. "You told me that if anyone could seduce Superman, it would be me."

"Did I?" He looked both amused and hopeful at the same time.

She reached up to touch his face, letting her thumb glide across that full lower lip that had been distracting her for days, weeks, months. "Prove it."
YES! smile

Thanks Sue.

Superman? No... *I* was talking about Clark. hehehehehe!

And 'ya know... I do get embarrassed reading some things, but that won't stop me from posting a little vignette in the nfic folder soon. Yep. Seriously. A little alternate scene from Reversal of Fortune - which by the way, Ann, if you're reading this: it's all your fault!

Laura - if I'd known your birthday was coming up so soon, I'd have gotten moving on the "whispers in the night" bit that you 'asked for'... You'll get it in the new year, though, I promise! Happy Birthday!

And Happy Birthday Jojo! smile

As much as I'd wish for Clark to show up there for you (mind you, if he does, we'd like to share. Please?) I'm glad you'll be here for a while. Nothing pleases me more than to know I can look forward to more "Sue-fic". (yes, I could think of something that might, but we're in the PC folder. I know. *lol*)

Well... now that I know I'm not getting any work done here at all, I think I'll close the door and continue working on that vignette I mentioned. If only "those words" came to me as easily as the rest of it. *sigh*
"Prove it."

What an excellent (almost) ending to this series. I can't top what everyone else has said, but I did want to let you know how much I enjoyed this. Deeply satisfying.

I might even have to check out the nfic side for the final part...

Darcy, Maybe it has to do with which area of the country you live in or have lived in?
Actually, I think I first "heard" the word "buss" when I was reading a book or a fic of some sort (anywhere from a few months to a few years ago). I can't remember what exactly I was reading, but I pretty much got the definition from the context of the sentence--that, I do know.
I also know "buss" from extensive reading. It's amazing the esoteric vocab you pick up that way. But since I didn't actually hear all these interesting words, sometimes when I was younger I would pronounce them incorrectly. My mom about died laughing when I, at the age of ten, pronounced "asylum" - a word I learned from Anne of Green Gables - as "a-loose-a-lum". (Apparently my phonetics training abandoned me that day.) My defense was that even if I couldn't say it, I knew what it meant! Thankfully, "buss" is a fairly easy word to say.

Lara, very excited about possible nfic scene for RoF!

It's more than possible, btw. it's half written already. wink But progress is slow cause it makes me blush a whole lot so I have to stop every so often...

It's an alternate of the "measuring" scene. 'ya know, with Clark in his undies standing in the middle of the room. hehehehehe! /me blushing madly again. *lol*
Okay, time for a bit more FDK...

He didn't reply, but she could hear the shuffle of papers as he continued to read. He always read faster than her, a fact that continued to irk her. He had to be cheating, but she had yet to find a single thing he had missed when speed-reading.
Definitely irksome!!!! I'm posting the grumblie on Lois's behalf! grumble

Quote
The paper sound stopped and she heard him take a sip of soda. That was followed by the soft clunk as he set the can back down.
The things you pick up when you don't look, just listen. (Anyone getting thirsty, by the way?)

Quote
She cracked one eye open in time to see him absent-mindedly lick his lips.
Wow, what a thing to see first thing in the morning (you know what I mean)... almost like having your mom wake you up during an erotic dream when you were a teen living at home. blush Except here it's the other way round. The erotic waking reality is suddenly and unexpectedly sprung on Lois!

Quote
One week ago tonight, she reminded herself. It was one week ago tonight that you kissed him. It was hardly a kiss, really. It had been just a swift congratulatory buss after dancing with him.
Even I think I've heard "buss" somewhere. Wonder what weird stuff I've been reading.

Quote
She opened her eyes again to watch his lips. Her eye caught and held on the small freckle at the corner of his mouth, then wandered to the spot on his cheek that turned into a dimple when he smiled.
Do I quote this once again? Of course, who doesn't want to look at that passage again? laugh I particularly like the way Lois is sort of helplessly caught by the sight of Clark's mouth (and the sight of the site of his dimple). She's caught like a fly in a spider's web, you know? (And if that didn't make sense, just forget it.)

Quote
That was an entirely different thing from kissing him deliberately. She had promised herself last week that she would do so - but she hadn't given herself a deadline. Tonight, she thought. What about tonight? She tried, but she couldn't think of a good reason to do it. And she had to have a good reason. Otherwise she would be kissing him solely to satisfy her curiosity.
Isn't satisfying your curiosity a good reason to kiss Clark? laugh

Quote
"I know," she muttered. He was right. She should go home - preferably before she did anything stupid.
Oh, no, no, Lois. You should stay - preferably all night!

Quote
She walked over to his fridge and opened it, looking inside for another cream soda.

"I think I have the last one," he called out.

"What?" She shut the fridge and turned to look at him. "The last what?"

He held up the soda can and gave her an apologetic smile. "I think I took the last one."
Yeah, well - no need to apologize for drinking your own cream soda, Clark!

Quote
"Where's your Kerth?" she asked.

Clark, still trying to concentrate on the papers before him, replied to her question without thinking. "In there," he said as he tilted his head in the direction of his bedroom but didn't look up.

Then his heart stuttered and his eyes went wide. He should stand up. He should call out to her. He should stop her.
I had totally forgotten what it was he didn't want her to see. But, Sue, I really like the fact that the revelation came this way, totally unintentionally. If Lois and Clark spend a lot of time together, and Clark is trying to uphold two different identities in front of her, he is bound to slip up sooner or later.

Quote
He waited instead, his head cocked in the direction of his bedroom, and listened intently as she stopped in front of his curio cabinet.
I like this, too. If Clark had really, really wanted to prevent Lois from seeing whatever it is that is going to give away his secret, he would of course have found a way to stop her. But he doesn't, because after all, he has been looking for a way to tell her. Suddenly things have been set in motion even though he hadn't intended it. But at least, he can choose not to stop what has begun to happen.

Quote
Then... nothing. Absolute silence. His heart seemed to slow down and he felt his entire body turn cold with panic. Had she seen it? Did she recognize it? Did she know what it meant?
And now, the moment of truth. The moment he has been so absolutely terrified of: Lois's reaction.

Quote
Through the award she could see a yellowish-brown blur. Curious, she moved the award to reveal a long-stemmed rose. It had been white but was now yellowed from having dried out.

What an odd thing for Clark to have, she thought. Where did he get it? Why did he keep it? It must have some kind of significance if he was keeping it here. These thoughts had flashed through her mind and then her brow furrowed.
Like the others already said... a rose by any other name....

Quote
"What's this?" Superman asked, taking the rose from her.

"It's a rose." Lois grinned, using all her willpower not to add the word "silly" at the end.

"What's this for?" he clarified with half a laugh in his voice.

She gave him a shy smile. "Do I have to have a reason?"

Their eyes had met and then he looked away, back at the rose in his hand. Feeling bold she had leaned closer and kissed his cheek.

Their eyes met again and he looked like he wanted to say something but settled for, "No, I guess not."

She remembers. That's how he got the rose. That's why he has kept it. That's why it was so important to him. To him, Clark Superman Kent.

Quote
What was it her journalism teacher in high school had drilled into their heads? Always go for the simplest explanation.
It's called Occam's razor. It's extremely popular in astronomy. If one simple and one complicated theory explain the same thing, choose the simple theory!

Quote
Clark had the rose because she had given it to him.
Exactly. laugh

Quote
Clark Kent. Kal-El. Clark. Kal. One and the same.

That was the simplest explanation.
Yep.

Quote
He had said that he was in love with someone and she didn't know he was Superman. That he couldn't tell her because she'd be angry. That she was his best friend. That he would dance with her the next time he saw her at a social function. All those conversations with Superman - and it had been Clark.
We all wait for your reaction, Lois. wink

Quote
Her eyes caught and held on his hazy reflection in the Kerth award.
Her eyes get caught every time they stray to Clark. The mousetrap, you know?

Quote
She thought of everything else he had told her. That things were complicated between them. That he was afraid she would never understand. That the truth would hurt her. That he wanted her to notice him for who he was and not for Superman.
Yes, Lois, remember what he said.

Quote
"You should tell her," she finally whispered. "Just take a chance and tell her the truth."
YES!!! The prefect thing to say!!! clap

Quote
He took a deep breath, his heartbeat pounding in his ears. "Lois, it's me. Kal-El."
I like the fact that he is scared.

Quote
She closed her eyes, reaching out to steady herself against the cabinet. She had known she was right - knew it the same way she knew when a story was about to break.
Good comparison. Lois is a reporter. She must have felt this sensation before, this sudden recognition of a pattern that makes a story make sense.

Quote
For a moment she wavered on the brink of being really, truly angry.
Of course. She is Lois Lane.

Quote
Angry with him for lying, but mostly angry with herself for being so completely blind.
And what could make her more furious at him than the realisation that he has forced her to admit that she has been galactically stupid, so that she has to be furious at herself?

Quote
In the end, it was the need to prove him wrong that stopped her.
Yes!!!!

Quote
Just as quickly her emotions turned to hurt - not that he had lied, but that he had misjudged her as much as she had misjudged him.
Oh, damn. The pain of playing this twosome game.

Quote
When she finally spoke she couldn't hide the hurt in her voice. "Did you really think I would be angry?"

"Yes," he admitted softly.
I love how naked their feelings are here, and how deep their words cut. And I love his soft voice.

Quote
"I thought you were in love with a moron." She nodded to herself. "I was right."

"I never thought you were a moron." He took one step closer, encouraged by the fact that she was being so calm.

The cabinet swam out of focus in front of her and she had to swallow to find her voice. "I was so jealous. Of *her*." She shook her head ruefully. "Tell me that's not moronic." The words were tinged with bitterness.
And Lois wants to cry. She really has been so hurt.

Quote
Clark winced. He would have much rather she was upset with him than hurt. "I'm sorry. You should be angry with me."
And Clark absolutely, absolutely doesn't want her to be hurt.

Quote
She swallowed and blinked. "Am I really so scary that you thought you couldn't tell me?"

Clark hesitated. "No." That wasn't true, he couldn't lie to her anymore. "Yes." Then, quickly, he amended it to, "Sometimes."
This is perfect. So absolutely perfectly Clark. And the reason that he was so scared, of course, is that he didn't know how to face her fury, and he was terrified that she wouldn't be his friend any more.

Quote
She finally turned towards him but she couldn't bring herself to look at his face. It was too sudden, too intense, too crazy.
Interesting. His face has bewitched her before, but right now she can't afford to be put under a spell. And maybe she can't even bear to look at his face and see both of him there - Clark and Kal-El. Maybe the world does feel too crazy that way.

Quote
She could see the slow even lift and fall of his chest as he breathed.
But darn it, Sue, you make me feel that even his t-shirt-clad chest bewitches her.

Quote
Her mind raced - he had kept his promise and danced with her. She had told him that she wanted Clark over Superman that night. At least she had done that much right. Had that been all he was waiting for? The thought struck her that maybe he had purposefully left the rose where she could find it.
Interesting question. Did he actually want her to find the rose? Perhaps his subconsciousness wanted her to find it, even though his conscious mind wasn't aware of why he chose to put the rose behind his his award.

Quote
"You said I was your best friend." Her gaze lifted to meet his.

"You are."

"You said you were in love with..."

Clark took another step towards her. "I am," he said firmly. Whatever else she might think, he didn't want her to doubt his feelings for her.
I like this.

Quote
"You didn't think I'd understand?" There was a little anger mixed in with the hurt now.

"That's the wrong way to say it. I was worried that you would think I had done all of it to deceive you."

"You did deceive me." The words were direct, but there was no anger in her voice.

"I deceived everyone. Can you understand why?"
But I don't think Clark is being honest here. Yes, he deceived everyone, but his deception of Lois was different from his deception of everyone else. Because Lois was the only one he was actively wooing, the only one he wanted to, ultimately, see and accept every aspect of him and share her life with all of him. He deceived her because he settled for lying and keeping her at arm's length, but also keeping her friendship, over telling her the truth and possibly winning her love, but also possibly losing her altogether.

Quote
"You don't have to hold onto me," he said with a shy smile, "but I wish you would."
Sheila has already pointed it out, but... yes, I agree, this is the key to everything Clark feels. Lois doesn't have to hold on to Clark. He can't force her, and has no right to force her, but he would so, so appreciate it if she would. Correction: he would totally, totally love it, if she held on to him. Now and forever.

The weight of his kiss tilted her head back into his palm.

Dizzy, my god, she was so dizzy now. It was too much, floating with him like this where he was the only solid thing in the world. It was too much and yet, somehow, it wasn't nearly enough.
Oh, Sue, this is incredibly erotic - how they are flying, and the only thing touching and holding her and preventing her from plunging to her death is him, and his amazing, dizzying, sweet-tasting kiss.

Quote
His eyes were dark and serious and she cursed herself again for pulling away. Only temporarily, she told herself. She couldn't kiss him again until she could feel more in control of the situation.
I can understand her - she would be totally out of her depth when he was kissing her high in the air. The mile high club can wait, I guess.

"Prove it."
And so, Sue, we await the Final Proof. And yes, I saw you promised it to me:

The story can logically end here. But if you're Ann (or just share her sentiments), this story will continue in the nfic folder in a day or two.
Yes!!!! party

Oh, and by the way, not that we have the party going.... Happy Birthday, Jojo and Laura!

Ann

P.S. Oh, and... Lara, you too, promise me a little nfic romp? Oh, wow! *happy dance*
I love the way Lois figures it out. I love the way she reacts. I love Clark taking her flying right away. Oh did I mention I loved it?! And of course you already know you'll see me on the nfic side as soon as you post. wink

Jackie
Okay, since you're obviously drowning in extensive FDK, I'll keep mine short. (Everything else would be a study in abundance.) Like all others, I loved this fic, as much as all the prequels. Maybe even more so. Im definitely looking forward to the next piece of yours - more than ever before.
This whole series is beautiful Sue! Thank you! reading these was a total gift, and this was a wonderful ending.
An absolutely wonderful series, Sue. Just the right length and perfect timing. Can't wait for the real conclusion wink I love the bantering between them.
cool

Wow Sue! Yes I'm posting smile This was so good I finally had to post a review (after years of lurking). The whole series was great and the (almost) ending was perfect - so tender and warm yet you could feel the tension in Lois and Clark as the truth is been revealed.

I love the revelation! I loved Lois reaction - not the usual ranting and anger that we are used to reading. Of course, recalling the details of their prior conversations helped, and you brought that out so well. I love the way you write dialog - it brings them to life. I will be reading the real (nfic) ending.

Oh yes, I too knew what Buss meant.

Thanks for a great series.
Annette
Now that I've picked my gooey self up off the floor...

Wonderful, fantastic, and beautiful ending! notworthy

I'm off to check the nfic folder now...
Loved it. Nice ending to the series for those of us who don't do the nfic side.

And BTW, James and I use the word "buss" IRL conversations, although we use it in a way that implies all the emotion of kissing your grandmother. You know, a quick, obligatory kiss. Somehow, I never see it that way in L&C-dom, not even in the first season when they just kiss for a cover story.

Hadn't meant to sound nit-picky. I really did enjoy each of the installments and loved how you wrapped it up with a little bow.

Elisabeth
Buss...cool I learned something new.

I love the way the revelation came subtle but powerful.
Doublel, excellent way of putting it.

Months and months of gradually increasing acquaintance had changed him in her eyes from a hayseed to a valued friend.
Aw, that is so cute and so funny!

Then his heart stuttered and his eyes went wide. He should stand up. He should call out to her. He should stop her. He waited instead, his head cocked in the direction of his bedroom, and listened intently as she stopped in front of his curio cabinet.

Then... nothing. Absolute silence. His heart seemed to slow down and and he felt his entire body turn cold with panic. Had she seen it? Did she recognize it? Did she know what it meant?
Way awesome. Great Clark reaction.

"You should tell her," she finally whispered. "Just take a chance and tell her the truth."

He took a deep breath, his heartbeat pounding in his ears. "Lois, it's me. Kal-El."
Beautiful. Oh I can't cry, I have mascara on and I have to go out!
