“Sure Mr. Luckabee. Today’s only the first of the month. I’ll tell her the second…” Jimmy trailed off, waving pleasantly as Mr. Leslie Luckabee nodded gratefully, then hurried to his office to vacate. “…hell freezes over.” He shook his head in disgust and went back to work.
I have to point out a major flaw in characterization that took place in this little piece.
For this story to work as a plot untwist, we have to believe that Jimmy has the intelligence and competence to be able to decern Luckabee' motives and plans. Sorry, doesn't wash. Jimmy's most obivous talent is that he's clueless.
