Lois' frame is small, there is only so long - no matter how well tailored her suits are - this pregnancy can be hidden.

Yes, now that she is beginning to show it won't be too much longer until the cat will be out of the bag, but she will try to hide her condition for as long as she can. In that way she can use Luckabee's attraction to her against him.
In the series I always thought that Jack was under utilized. I thought I would give him a bigger part.
