I had been contemplating the relative paucity of feedback for my most recent fanfic ("Afterwards" is WHAMmy), and that led to the proverb I listed as #2. A bit of contemplation resulted in the remaining items.

I encourage others to add to this list.

And yes, I did violate my own proverbs by not having this list BR-ed. ('Do as I say and not as I do," anyone? ).

Thank heaven for number 10. If not for that one my beta readers would have given up on me long ago. As it is they have stuck by me through thick and thin and hopefully it has resulted in better stories.

Artemis, I guess commas are like everything else: moderation is the key. Or, to add another fractured proverb:

14) A place for every punctuation, and every punctuation in its place.

Lara, I agree with you. Nothing pulls me out of a story as fast as a typo or a syntax error.

And your proverb is so true. May I offer a related one on the same theme?
