I had been contemplating the relative paucity of feedback for my most recent fanfic ("Afterwards" is WHAMmy), and that led to the proverb I listed as #2. A bit of contemplation resulted in the remaining items.

I encourage others to add to this list.

And yes, I did violate my own proverbs by not having this list BR-ed. ('Do as I say and not as I do," anyone? wink ).

As always, all feedback welcome.

Joy,
Lynn
Haha this was cute! I def. LOL'd at #6.
I loved this, Lynn! thumbsup

I especially liked your analogy between Superman and Time. It does explain how he can move back time.

But I'm going to have to choose this one for my favorite as it made me laugh:
Quote
6) If you can't say something nice about someone, then write from Lex's POV.
rotflol
clap . I'm grateful that I wasn't drinking anything, or it would be all over my screen. laugh
Good stuff!

Pat
Cute! And the one about Lex' POV was totally priceless.
Mrs. Luthor, why am I not surprised that #6 was your favourite? wink

Virginia, will this do? Too many commas spoil the fanfic.

Deadly Chakram, I am sensing a consensus forming on #6. smile

Pat and Lara, thanks for the feedback. (See Virginia's #11. smile )

Joy,
Lynn

If that's true, then Thank God for Lynn! (and other people who have Beta'd for me and lived to tell the tale.) laugh

Thank heaven for number 10. If not for that one my beta readers would have given up on me long ago. As it is they have stuck by me through thick and thin and hopefully it has resulted in better stories. rotflol
Really cute! I've got another one that answers this one: "Too many commas spoil the fanfic."
I guess this is 12.

12. Not enough commas in a reaaalllly long sentence makes for reader confusion.

cool
Artemis
Oh, commas are okay - but too many typos and/or errors sure spoil the fanfic for me.

13) You don't look sideways at a superhero rescuing you. (Not even if he belches after swallowing a bomb.)
LOL Lara. So true.
cool
Artemis
Love them, Lynn! thumbsup
Ken, I agree with you about how priceless BRs are, and how much they can help improve one's writing.

Artemis, I guess commas are like everything else: moderation is the key. Or, to add another fractured proverb:

14) A place for every punctuation, and every punctuation in its place.

Lara, I agree with you. Nothing pulls me out of a story as fast as a typo or a syntax error.

And your proverb is so true. May I offer a related one on the same theme?

15) Never look a gift-hero in the mouth (no matter how gorgeous his smile is).

Anna, thanks for the thumbs up.

Joy,
Lynn
Or...
16) Too many rescues spoil the reporter. (Namely Lois.)
17) A rescue a day keeps the doctor away.
Lara, rotflol

But a note of caution to Lois:

18) Never count your rescues before they're performed.

Because, after all, Lois would say,

19) He who hesitates is scooped.
Oh my goodness! Number seven applies to me!
Oh, those are great, Lynn. /takes care to do proper punctuation/

Isn't there a great market for futures and derivative products?

Oh, wait, we're talking about real value here, not financial craziness...
