Hi, Everyone,

I hope someone around here remembers me. I'm Nan Smith. I've been hanging out here for a while, lurking, and contacted KSaraSara a few weeks ago to let her know I was still around and to update my email address.

I quit writing for a while since I was dealing with breast cancer, since resolved, and with the death of my younger brother, whose guardian I was, but I never forgot the Lois and Clark Fanfic Message Boards, and always hoped to return someday.

I don't know if anyone has read any of my stuff, since it's a bit out of date these days, but I mentioned to her that I'm writing another story, a sequel to Degrees of Separation that I wrote many years ago, to try to tie up some loose ends I left dangling in the Dagger series. I'm struggling a bit with it, but it's coming along slowly. I'll be posting it one of these days.

In the meantime, hello again to some of the people here whom I knew years ago, and hi to those I haven't yet met.

Hi, Nan Smith! I'm new here, but I've read a lot of old fanfics, and I've read some of yours as well. I really like your version of All Shook Up with "Charlie", Four Days to Nightfall. I'm sorry for what you've been through. Hope you're doing okay.

Thanks for all the replies. I have to say, I'm a little surprised that anyone remembers me, considering all the talented writers in this fandom.

I'm working on a story, but it's slow going. Our house got hit by one of the famous Texas hailstorms in May, and we've been doing repairs ever since, punctuated by a few other adventures I don't even want to think about, which included driving around in the New Mexico desert with a malfunctioning GPS and an engine that was acting like it was going to conk out any second and no cell phone service to call for help if we needed it. (Did you know there is a Las Vegas in New Mexico? I didn't, but I found out when we limped into town with an engine that wouldn't propel the car faster than 29mph and discovered that one of the brand new spark plugs we had purchased the day before had developed a crack. Talk about the trip from Hell!) I was convinced they were going to find our bleached bones in a year or two out among the tumbleweeds. I was never so glad to see the Texas border again the next day.

Anyhow, I'm working on the story and will be posting it when I get it the way I like it. Then I plan on using any comments that people may make to improve it for the Archive. I've always found the imaginations of the people here to be a fantastic resource for any aspiring writer.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome. I'll be around most days, though I may not always comment, and when I get a little time, I may try the chat on Discord. I have never used it, but my daughter, Tara, has, so I guess I can ask her for help.

I remember your name. I was still writing regularly in 2010. We didn't move to Texas until 2014 and life got really hectic for a while.

Between being my brother's guardian, breast cancer and a million other things, not to mention a severe case of writer's block, i was kind of stuck for a while, but now I'm back. I'm just working out the parts of the current story, so we'll see what happens.

Hi Andrea, good to see you! I'll be around on and off. I'm trying to deal with getting my driver's license renewed right now. They give you all kinds of hassle when you hit a certain age here in Texas. I have to prove I'm really me, and still able to drive competently, and my birth certificate and marriage license got lost during the move, so I've got to order new copies of both. What a nuisance. Getting old stinks, let me tell you.

I'm flattered that people still remember me, so thanks to everyone who answered my post. I'll try to make sure this latest story lives up to the standard of the others.

I'm sorry about the challenges you've faced. I pray that they've made you stronger, wiser and more compassionate.

About that first story....I found the message boards and followed a link to the Archive. I wasn't sure what was out there so I gambled and hit the Random Story button. That was how the first L&C fancic I ever read was Home: Circle of Fate. It was a little bit like reading the Magicians Nephew first. Definitely a backwards intro to the overall story but it worked. I realized pretty quickly that it was in a series but since I was already hooked I read it as a standalone story and then went and found the rest. Thank you for a great introduction.

It just so happens that I'm listening to Murder by Earthlight on my commute right now (again). On that front, if my math is correct, Mary Lucille should be about 19 years old now. Any updates??

No updates yet. Besides, in the world of fanfic, you can be anywhere at any time <g>. I'm currently working on a sequel to Degrees of Separation and trying to work out the background of the secondary main character, one of the superkids left behind by the New Kryptonians. No title yet, but when I get things the way I want them, I'll be posting here before it hits the Archive.
