Hello all my fellow FoLCs!

The generosity of this fandom has kept these sites up and running for 30+ years. Amazing! And now it's time to focus on keeping it going for the next few years.

Did you know we own all of our own infrastructure? This means that no one can close a platform and leave us hanging, as has happened to a number of them over the years: Yahoo Groups, Guilded, Live Journal (still around but it's at risk). It also means we have expenses, because we have to pay for what we maintain! This includes:

LCFanfic.com - The main story archive
NFanfic.com - The archive for nfanfic and some gfic
LCFicMbs.com - These boards (and the software for them)!
KerthAwards.com - hosting our yearly fanfic awards, the Kerths!
LCFicDirectory.com - A huge organized list of every single Lois and Clark fic ever written (that the archive team knows about) that has been kept for decades.

KSaraSara and DarthMichael have been working hard behind the scenes to update and consolidate a lot of things. We have new hosting! (that's the hardware where all the websites live). We got a huge update to the boards! (DarthMichael worked hard to keep them looking almost exactly the same). And there's other huge updates in the works that DarthMichael has been hinting about for the last year in Discord.

The expenses even out to be about $430 a year. We currently have $68 of that for the 2026 goal that will be needed early 2027 and nothing for expenses past that. Yikes!

All money contributed goes towards funding the infrastructure of the fandom, minus some unavoidable currency conversion and money platform fees.

Everything else is done by our amazing volunteers! And that includes me as the new Fundraising Coordinator.

There will be many options for people to contribute and help keep this fandom going strong.

Things we need:

• Stories! (the currency of choice around here, haha)
• Other creations like fan videos, artworks and other digital creations!
• Physical creations! Do you love to craft and make things? Make something to be auctioned off! I'm really open on what this could be. Cricut decals, alcohol ink tumblers, knitted scarves, 3D printed whats-its... Throw out some ideas!
• Contributions to the Keepsake Collection of exclusive fan creations!
  
  Years ago the fandom had another fundraiser and people contributed creations to a CD which was produced and distributed to those who gave financally to support the fandom. And I want to do something similar again. Optical disc drives are getting rare, so I'm looking into other options for the physical component, but the idea remains the same! See the specific thread about it for more info and to join the conversation.

There will be swag!

• Iron-ons!
• Stickers!

I'm looking for more ideas on this list also!

The fundraiser will run all summer and into the fall.
FoLCs will have the summer to run auctions and create their contributions. Then after the school start rush, we will conclude any auctions still pending and gather orders for swag and the Keepsake Collection so those can be manufactured and then shipped.

It's going to be an active time, so keep your eyes peeled on these forums and in Discord for new things popping up!

And finally... If I can find a volunteer who loves doing finishing and painting of statues and figures, I've found a model of Superman and Ultrawoman (!!!) I want to get printed (this part already has volunteers if you don't know how to do 3D printing) and nicely finished to raffle off! I'm super excited about this one and hoping I can add them to my own collection, hehe. But raffles are all about the luck of the draw, so everyone who enters will have a chance for them (if someone helps finish them!)

I wanted to add a note about the money that's been donated already in 2026:

Anyone who's donated recently, your contributions helped us meet the 2025 goal, which we'd been behind* on. Thank you all so much for your contributions so far!

*Behind in the sense that there are small, yearly bills to pay, and then the big hosting bill is paid every three years. Since it's so hefty, we've averaged all the expenses out to come up with a yearly savings goal of $430 a year.

Michael and I are happy to answer any and all questions about money and accounting—we want to be fully transparent about your hard-earned money!

New suggestion for swag: Mouse pads! (I'll have to look into how these are made and if a local producer can manufacture them)

I just made another $25 donation and hopefully I can make another donation soon. I just wish I could afford to donate the full amount.

I’m a little confused (it doesn’t take much to confuse me). The progress bar currently shows $118. Is that the amount that has been donated toward the 2026 costs or was part of that applied toward the 2025 bills. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your donation. Everything is appreciated and helpful! It ALL goes towards paying the bills for the fandom's infrastructure. Everything that can be is done by volunteers (thanks everyone!).

The progress bar is toward the 2026 goal of $430. We had a burst of donations earlier this year when we started discussing in the Discord server that money was needed to pay the bills in early 2027, so the bar has been updated to reflect that. We were behind on the 2025 goal and had nothing towards the 2026 goal.

I wish I could just pay it all too! But I'm glad for this opportunity for the fandom to come together and help support each other =)

I'm also excited about the swag we have planned. This is a great opportunity to snag some fandom gear!

I understand the confusion. I was confused too, lol. That's why the text on the donations page has changed, to make it less confusing!
