Clark proudly and loudly whooped his delight. “I am now seven whole years old. Today I will only speak seven-word sentences.”

Young Lana scowled and snorted her disbelief. “What a silly thing to say, Clark. There’s no way you could do that.”

“Bet you I can too do it.”

Martha smiled at her clever young son. She private doubted whether Clark would succeed. But he, if anyone, could do it.
