ROTFLOL! LOL! ROFL!

Of course, now I will have that Beatles song stuck in my head all night...

I'd like to be
Under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade...

Aargh. Ah, well.

But congratulations; this story is great, and you've got every item on the list!

In fact, one item in particular caught my attention:
Quote
The one in the batgirl costume and crown spoke up. "I am Mary, Queen of Capes."
Ha-ha. Very funny. But tell me, was this a coincidence? Where did you find out my *other* alter-ego? I don't remember mentioning it... or did I?

Really though, this was a riot! Kudos! notworthy

Well, I'm impressed. I didn't even realize it was the same type of story I'd written...well, the scavenger hunt I mean! Amazing imagination. laugh smile :p

It's always such an embarrassment. Having to do away with someone. It's like announcing to the world that you lack the savvy and the finesse to deal with the problem more creatively. I mean, there have been times, naturally, when I've had to have people eliminated, but it's always saddened me. I've always felt like I've let myself down somehow.

Wow, this is a much better recption than I was expecting! (See thread on writer insecurity... wink )

The whole story seemed like a silly cobbled-together nonsensical mess. It did improve a bit when I went back over it one last time before posting (unusual for me -- I generally can't edit my own work), but I still didn't think much of it.

So, the reactions I did get were a real surprise. Thanks to everyone who posted! I really appreciate it! blush

A few specific responses...

Yeah, I grew up on the Beatles. Of course, the song reference was just a last-second addition. The song I've had stuck in my head is very different, and it doesn't help that it only exists in my head.

(I do that. I don't know why. I walk around, I see something, I adapt a song to it, and then I get that song stuck in my head. Every time Mom and I go through VA, I get a song in my head. "If I were in Richmod, de-dee-del-dee-del-dum, all day long I'd biddy-biddy-bum, if I were a Vir-gin-ian! ...")

So far, the song goes like this:

Quote
All the sands are brown,
and the seas are grey.
I went for a swim,
on a winter's day.
I'd be safe and warm,
if I was in the bay.
Calamari dreamin'
on such a winter's day!

I stopped by an old reef,
I passed along the way.
I got down on the beach
and I pretend to sway.
Oh, the moray likes the salt,
he knows I'm not gonna stay.
Calamari Dreamin'
on such a winter's day...
Unfortunately, that also reminds me of another song, which goes:

When an eel
is in the sea,
living near
a coral reef,
that's a moray,
that's a moray!

<sigh> You see what I have to live with?

The URL in your sig was already pointed out, so I guess I don't need to explain that. Darn, I was kinda looking forward to it... [Linked Image] (Sorry, Kae. Hope you don't mind me using your personal graemlin... wink )

Sara - Thanks for the great comments, here and on IRC! (I really should get on IRC more often...).

Since I don't want to keep repeating myself, I'll limit myself to one more time. Thanks again to QoTC, Sara, Jose, Ethnica, Anna, Laura, Tipiwoman, and Tricia for all your wonderful comments. smile1

When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.

Paul,

That made *no* sense. *grin* That said, your story was hilarious. I'm still grinning.

Hey, it's Sarah! I'm honored!

Made no sense, huh? Yeah, I know. That's why I resorted to the old dream cliche. I figure the only thing that could explain all that would be Lois's "cooking" spiced with Red K. Then it all makes sense, right? ... Right?

Well, glad you liked it, and thanks for posing!

Paul
