Lois brushed a lock of hair from his forehead. "Thank you," she said.
"I wouldn't, anyway," Clark said. "But I want you to *know* I wouldn't."
He wanted her to trust her that he loved her. But
he wouldn't trust
her enough to tell her who he is.
I don't like it.
