“I should go back. Maybe I missed more,” he realized, pulling away from her abruptly. She reached out to try to stop him, but before she could really react, he stood suddenly and took a step toward the window. Then she just watched, frozen in surprise and horror and confusion, as he stumbled and fell face first to the floor. He caught himself with his hands but then groaned sharply as his right arm seemed to collapse under his weight, and he crashed into the ground, turning over onto his back.
Whew!
There's a multitude of problems going on with Clark. He's suffering from PTSD. Going back to the earthquake location would have been painful in the extreme. He is a very graceful person, to stumble in that manner should have put Lois on HIGH alert. More is happening her than a rescue gone awry. Perhaps when they reach St. Lucia away from the normal routine of their lives Clark can unbend and communicate with his wife of five years exactly what's occuring mentally, emotionally and physically. At some point, as Bernie said, his powers will dwindle to nothing. How is he going to explain that the Superman express is permanently ceased operation...over the Pacific on their way to Fiji?
Thanks so much for this latest chapter!
