If it's a direct quote, you need the quotation marks followed by the citation information in parantheses or in a footnote/endnote. If it's a paraphrase, you don't need the quotation marks but you still need the citation. There are different ways when it comes to the details (e.g. MLA style,
Harvard Style etc.) but in general that's it.
