I enjoyed this part. For once, Mark and Alan weren't running for their lives. I'm glad Alan took time to try to warn Billy's dad about his psychic abilities. Maybe it'll save the boy's life long enough for him to join the underground.

It was amusing to read the interplay about the wine because I keep forgetting that Alan is only about 18. Hopefully they can catch their ride without too many problems and then maybe they can get cleaned up and sleep a bit before they're thrown back into the fray.

How is Julia doing?!! I know she's okay or Alan would be worried, but I'd like to know how she's getting along. Is the next section hers?

Yay! New chapter! I really liked this one. Do we get to see more of Billy?

Billy (and Jimmy) Santos don't appear again in this story, however, there is another story a little farther down the line (see Mr. D8a's timeline) called Rite of Passage, in which they play significant parts. Billy is later mentioned in Shell Game where he and his partner, Janice Westover, are the control-room psychics on one of the big ships during the Battle of Ladreen. You also catch a short mention of Jim Santos in Slave Race where he and his psychic partner, Susie Burke are the pilots of a skippership during the same battle. The two of them also appear in a story (that is still in the plot stage) called Initiation, that I plan on writing when and if I ever manage to get the time.

Poor Sherrif smile But good for Alan, warning him.

And I like the line about how ham sandwiches and milk will stunt your growth goofy

"You told me you weren't like other men," she said, shaking her head at him when the storm of laughter had passed.
He grinned at her - a goofy, Clark Kent kind of a grin. "I have a gift for understatement."
"You can say that again," she told him.
"I have a...."
"Oh, shut up."
