Lois, Clark and H.G. Wells have to try to stop Tempus from killing Superman when he first arrives on Earth. There are time travel shenanigans as Wells takes Tempus to 1866 instead of 1966, leaving Lois and Clark to find them and stop Tempus' plan to change Utopia.

HGWells accidentally drags Tempus from the future into the present. They then end up in 1866 because HGWells tries to stall. Tempus robs a bank. In the end, the plot happens in 1966. Tempus is parked in 1866 asylum at the end of the episode.
