I am sure this has been discussed before, but if you were having an LnC party, what food would you serve?

My own favorites would be Rocky Road ice cream (the Kroger brand, it tastes better than the others) and an assortment of Cheeses of the Month (sharp cheddar, provolone, a fresh Mozzarella, some chevre, Emmentaler, Gouda, and some of the English, Swiss and Italian cheeses I can buy at Whole Foods but whose names I don't remember). With fresh bread and crackers, of course!

I don't eat chocolate (other than ice cream) or crunch bars, so I have no idea which types/brands would be best. And I've run out of ideas after that.

Your ideas?

I don't know if it's party food, but there's pasta, great Chinese takeout, etc.

Also, Clark loved Hostess if I remember right.

Oatmeal scotchies (oatmeal cookies with butterscotch chips) are mentioned in AKA Superman.

Pasta salad, the one thing Lois can cook that doesn't include chocolate.

There was a lot of pizza in the show.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head!

Clark had a good-sized wine collection and they often enjoyed a bottle with dinner.

(We'll just ignore that bizarre scene in Smart Kids where they made a show of him pouring apple juice into his beer bottle before talking with the kids!)

As for other ideas, how about Martha's homemade pie and "there's nothing like buttermilk for what ails you." smile

Is it dinnertime yet? wink

I'm starving, after I read these posts.

Have corn husking contest then eat corn on the cob? Anything else corn related goes as well. Lois also mentions that she loves caramel apples in that ep smile .

Lois knew how to cook two things, and one of them was pasta salad.

You could char a roast until it's black to go with it. Bwah ha. wink

What about double fudge crunch bars !

Pretty much any junk food - Clark ate like an 8-year old. I think Jonathan mentioned Ding-Dongs, Ho-Ho's and Snickers in one of the NK episodes.

Also, don't forget the rumaki.

Don't forget the cheese sandwiches made with camembert; you can't get a decent one from the vending machine. And the Thai food, especially the pot stickers. There must be a beverage also: Was it Lapsang Soochong tea, and what's the matter with good old orange pekoe?

Don't forget the paava leaves for those who have high blood pressure.

Oh, and blazing hot rumaki!

Burnt toast! peep

Okay, so anything burnt will do. Has anyone mentioned cream soda, coffe and that tea Clark used to drink?

Hmm. Since I saw that S-shield that Sue and LaraMoon made using M&M's, I think you should include them. smile

I bought a package of this once from a tea specialty store, since I'm a big tea drinker and figured that if Clark liked it, it must be good. It was AWFUL. I mean, I'm sure it's an acquired taste, but seriously, I ended up throwing out the whole package after a couple weeks just 'cause I couldn't even stand the smell in my pantry, LOL.

I've seen it described as having "a famously smoky taste, like a nice campfire or pipe tabacco." Yeah, well, in my opinion, I could have saved the money by steeping the contents of a filthy ashtray and drinking it instead. wink

Clark, I'm so disappointed in you for liking this stuff. thumbsup )

Lois mentions Orange Pekoe in Chi of Steel I've tried that and didn't like it.

Lapsang is okay, but after a while the smoky flavours become apparent and the longer you leave it it doesn't taste nice anymore.

I've tried all kinds of teas because I prefer tea to coffee. When I drink coffee I have to put lots of cream in it, and I'd rather get the calories from somethiing I like.

I'm with you, Kathy. I didn't like lapsang soochong either, nor do I like orange pekoe. I prefer black tea or Rooibos, a South African herbal red tea. I don't drink tea with milk, but I do like to add a little lemon and sugar now and then.

I just learned something about making iced tea. Put 6 regular teabags in a pot, ad 1/8 tsp of baking soda and pour in 2 cups of boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes. Remove the bags but don't squeeze them. Add water and ice to taste. Not squeezing the bags and adding the soda prevents any bitterness.

Oh, it's time for elevenses. Tea you later.

I had oolong tea when I was at LAFF last year (after all, when in Rome, or in this case, Metropolis ...) and it was pretty good.

Oh, and wine would be appropriate, too. They drank a lot of it, especially in Season 4.
