This has been sitting on my hard drive since March, and after I rediscovered it during transfering data, I realized I still needed to share it with you guys smile

During the research for writing my thesis, I stumbled upon a mention of FoLCs in one of the books I was reading. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised!

The book is called Online communication. Linking technology, identity & culture and was written by Andrew F. Lawrence and Matthew Smith. It was published in 2001 by Lawrence Erlbaum Associates (Mahwah).

I have two scans of the FoLC mention:
page 109 page 110

The FoLC related part begins on page 109, right under 'DEFINING VIRTUAL COMMUNITIES'.

And it seems that there is another mention of FoLCs somewhere else because of the provided source (Graham, 1997). I don't know which source this is, but I'll try to find out. I don't have the book here anymore, but maybe I can look it up when I return my library card.

Oh, and CMC stands for Computer Mediated Communication smile

PS: This makes me think about another page for the Lois & Clark Wiki. Media references to FoLCs smile

EDIT: I just found an e-book version of the SECOND version of this book and they no longer mention Lois & Clark frown So I couldn't find out the other reference.
