I missed the last two episodes of the series... I know Lois dad it let in on the secret but does her mom ever find out?

She finds out but her memory gets erased by the Bummer-Be-Gone or whatever it's called. Sam's memory, too, I think.

Yup, everybody's memory is erased. Ellen, Sam, Martha and Jonathan and Sam's henchman that was the cause of it all. Of course Martha and Jonathan already knew and they still know, it just erased the last day or so.
cool

really???? I like her she is a little high strung and somewhat annoying, but I like her I think she explains why Lois is the way she is. I like Martha too, but I am really drawn to the sarcastic and Ellen Lane drips with sarcasm. She was sooo funny in Home is where the Hurt is...

Sam: "I was hoping you would see the past as I do"
Ellen: A sesspool of abandonment and humiliation?!

Man cracks me up everytime smile

Don't get me wrong Martha is still my favorite but Ellen made it interesting smile

I think that in S3 and S4 both Sam and Ellen bore no resemblance to the characters we were shown in S1. I found them to be more real in the first season, more like actual people, not caricatures thrown in for comic relief, which I thought was especially true of Ellen as portrayed by Beverly Garland: she was nothing like the supportive, caring Ellen Lane played by Phyllis Coates (even though with only got a glimpse of her).

Same goes for Sam's character. I loved Denis Arndt's Sam, because when we saw him interact with Lois it explained so much about her past and how she became the woman she was. I didn't get the same impression from Harve Presnell's Sam, even though he was more three dimensional than BG's Ellen.

The Kents were real characters and they were fleshed out, but we need to keep in mind that they had much more screentime than Sam and Ellen and the writers were able to develop them.

Yeah I guess that I don't like Ellen because she is a little over the top.. but that may be because she doesn't have that much screentime..

I don't like Ellen Lane either.
She's really a little over the top and honestly, Lois was a poor child with such a mother!!!!

I agree with C_A. While I always enjoyed (or mostly enjoyed) the later incarnations of Lois's parents for their comic value, I think that the S1 portrayal of her father had more depth and emotional resonance for me and would definitely be my favourite. Some of the scenes in Requiem are incredibly poignant, especially her father's quiet acceptance of the fact that he's estranged from his daughter.

I always felt sorry for Ellen in...eeesh, what's the name of the Big Head episode...nope, it's gone. Whatever - it must have hurt her terribly to realise that everyone in the family had been let in on Clark's secret, except her. Well, for as long as she was allowed to remember it, anyway. laugh

Was it? Yes, it was. Thanks, C_A. smile I knew it wasn't Toy Story, which was what I had in my head.
