Sorry guys for the delay. I was making up my sleep after 30 hrs of waking (last days of semester..) again sorry.
t r i o k -yes!
okay, update:
H A R O - - / K R I P S T - -
D?
Simba
PS: Thanks, MDL.
yes, 1 d
H A R O - D / K R I P S T - -
Hmm ... this one is hard ... still have no clue what the 2nd word is or what episode this is from ...
L?
Simba
2 Ls!
H A R O L D / K R I P S T L -
ok, let me give you a hint... 1) as u'd have guessed, its a character name 2) its from season 4
I still don't get it after looking through all the lists of characters in the season 4 episode guides on tv tome. But there are few characters remaining that we haven't guessed so let's see ...
Harold Kripstly?
Simba
Yep Simba
That's Toy Man from Toy Story. The TV tome does not give his real name. Lois and Clark found that during their research.
You are up next ...
Yay, here's a new puzzle:
--- ---'- ------ -- ------- ---'- -----.
Simba
EDIT: Off to finish cleaning the apartment, will be back in an hour or so
E?
Yes to some S's and E's.
--E ---'S -E---- -S -----E- ---'S S----.
Simba
Looks funny...
L?
See ya,
AnnaBtG.
Yep to T, L and A. Excellent choice for L.
--E -A-'S -EL--- -S A--T-E- -A-'S S--LL.
Simba
K?
1 K and 1 R.
--E -A-'S -EL--- -S A--T-ER -A-'S SK-LL.
Simba
2 I's. This is a more obscure quote than usual perhaps.
--E -A-'S -EL--- IS A--T-ER -A-'S SKILL.
Simba
Good choice, many N's!
-NE -AN'S -EL-N- IS AN-T-ER -AN'S SKILL.
Simba
I'm kinda new to these boards, but this seems like a fun game!!
O?
"One man's felony is another man's skill."
Pilot episode, Jimmy to Lois: "How did you learn to boost a car?"
It might be "unusual", but as that's one of only 3 episodes I've actually seen to date (though I'm about to plow through Annette's collection, which she graciously copied for me), I am quite familiar with many of its lines. (And I didn't even do a search to figure it out, either--it came to me.)
Yep, you got it, Doranwen!

In that case, an extra thumbs-up for ya.
Your turn, Doranwen. (So, does this mean we can narrow down the next puzzle to being from the 3 episodes you've seen?
)
Simba
Hopefully this is also an obscure quote.
At the very least, it should be unusual, and fun, which is the idea of the game.
-----------/---/-/---------./--/------./--/------------.
And no, you can't narrow it down. (Crowd: Aw, darn . . .) Because, you see, there are the transcripts, and I have been reading through them. But you don't know WHERE I am, and I have a few episodes that are quite out of place, so I may choose lines from anywhere.
Yep, there's a few R's.
-----R-----/---/-/--------R./--/------./--/R--R--------.
A?
A's coming right up:
-----R-----/A--/A/--------R./--/------./--/R--R--------.
Several E's, and the N's that snuck in under my nose:
E-E--R-----/AN-/A/--N-----R./--/-----E./--/RE-R-------E.
Here are the 2 D's:
E-E--R-----/AND/A/--ND----R./--/-----E./--/RE-R-D-----E.
It's getting closer to recognizable . . .
Ah, the S's should help some:
E-E--R-----/AND/A/--ND----R./S-/S----E./S-/RE-R-D-----E.
/me scratches her head... O?
And for the third vowel, lol:
E-E--R-----/AND/A/-OND---OR./SO/S----E./SO/RE-ROD-----E.
Interesting how some puzzles seem to attract all the vowels, and other ones are solved with only one vowel and a bunch of consonants . . .
This should be much easier now . . .
Maybe the L's will do the trick:
ELE--R-----/AND/A/-OND---OR./SO/S---LE./SO/RE-ROD----LE.
I think it's getting close to solvability for sure . . .
P? If I have the last half of it right (though I'm not sure...) you might be missing an A.
Nope, here are the T's, and last minute P's
:
ELE-TR---T-/AND/A/-OND--TOR./SO/S--PLE./SO/REPROD----LE.
Not missing any letters, double-checked.
Last minutes, ticking away, and the U's come:
ELE-TR---T-/AND/A/-ONDU-TOR./SO/S--PLE./SO/REPRODU---LE.
Electricity and a conductor. So simple. So reproducible?
Yes, you have it, from A Bolt from the Blue, spoken by Gretchen Kelly, insane doctor. Your turn, I'm going to bed now.
Yay! I get to have a go! How about this one...
-----, ---- -- ----, ---'-- --- --------!
R?
R, C, A, T, L
Clar-, ta-- -t -a--, ---'r- --t ----r-a-!
Changed my mind--I want an E instead.
There's definitely a K in there
Okay!
We've had R, C, A, T, L and now E and K:
Clark, take -t ea--, ---'re --t ---er-a-!
Clark, take it easy, you're not Superman!
Is this right?
Tricia
Yup! Lois says that in FLy Hard.
Okay, TAG! You're it Tricia!
----- ---- --- -- -------- ---- -- -----.
Tricia
---n- --t- --- -- ----n--- t--n -- ---n-.
Tricia
-ein- -it- --- i- ----n-e- t--n -e ---ne.
Tricia
-ein- -it- --- is st--n-e- t--n -e ---ne.
Tricia
Being with you is stronger than me alone.Right?
See ya,
AnnaBtG.
Yes! Your turn, Anna.
Tricia
Lol, this game has been going on so long that that was the second time someone used that line!
Check out thread #4, puzzle by IsisLnC. (And as I compile lists of used ones, turns out "John Doe is a nice guy" was used twice now too, lol.)
How much does punctuation matter, I wonder? Earlier ones used none--and I would like to know if we're free to use phrases without putting punctuation between them--or if we can change it, say between commas, ellipses, semi-colons, etc. 'Cause I've got some great lines in mind for next time I'm up for it.
and I would like to know if we're free to use phrases without putting punctuation between them--or if we can change it, say between commas, ellipses, semi-colons, etc.
Whichever. Doesn't make much difference either way, far as I can see.
I think, in a game like this, people concentrate on the words/letters rather than the punctuation, so it really makes no difference whether it's there or not.
LabRat
Okay, next riddle:
--/--/-----/---/--/--/----, -/------'-/----/---/----/---/--/-----.
On a side note, I think punctuation is important. Maybe not 100% but it can help, right?
Doranwen: I hope you won't mind posting all the phrases when you're done compiling the list. So that we know which ones have been used. And, as I suggested some time ago, we could make the thread a sticky.
See ya,
AnnaBtG.
Or confuse, if it's punctuated wrongly. Don't anyone get any ideas there.
Hmmmmm, plenty to choose from, since I'm first to guess. Let's see....I?
LabRat
I - yes.
I-/--/-----/---/I-/--/----, I/------'-/----/---/----/---/--/---I-.
See ya,
AnnaBtG.
S?
S - yes.
I-/--/-----/--S/I-/--/----, I/------'-/----/---/----/---/--/---I-.
See ya,
AnnaBtG.
A - yes.
I-/--/--A--/-AS/I-/--/--A-, I/------'-/-A--/A--/----/---/--/--AI-.
See ya,
AnnaBtG.
E?
LabRat (who should be in bed, but...isn't...)
T?
E - yes.
H - yes.
T - yes.
N - yes.
O - yes.
W - yes.
I-/--/HEA-T/WAS/IN/--/HEA, I/WO---N'T/HA-E/AN-/-OO-/-O-/--/--AIN.
Looking much easier now...
See ya,
AnnaBtG.
I got it! Right?
IF MY HEART WAS IN MY HEAD, I WOULDN'T HAVE ANY ROOM FOR MY BRAIN.
Correct, Andreia! Your turn.
See ya,
AnnaBtG.
