A friend asked this one but sadly I have no clue. Anyone out there got an answer?

*******

I have a formatting question. In British English, a poem title is formatted with quotation marks. Would that be single quotation marks, or double quotation marks?

Also, related question - is there a Br-E grammar book that handles this type of question you would recommend?

******

Thanks!

Labby, I wish I knew the answer to your friend's question. Alternatively, you might suggest that your friend look at "Shoots, Eats, and Leaves," a grammar book which will make you go "Hmmm" one moment and leave you hysterical the next. It's written by a Brit who also understands the looser (and sometimes baffling, even to Americans) conventions of American grammar. And it will leave you smiling, I promise.

Good luck!

pssst., Terry, I think you mean "Eats, Shoots & Leaves." I agree that it is a book well worth reading.

Hi Terry,

Or perhaps you were brilliant to have made a writing error with the title of that particular book. wink
