It's the beginning of January, which can only mean one thing...it's time to sign up to write a Kerth Quiz!

What is a Kerth Quiz, you ask?

I'm glad you asked! The Kerth Quizzes serve multiple purposes:

1) Get everyone excited for the upcoming Kerth Awards 2012!
2) Refresh memories of the stories written/archived over the past year.
3) Give everyone a chance to fail at recognizing their own stories! (Just kidding...mostly.)

Is the list of eligible stories going to be posted soon? It's probably no big deal for the quiz-writers to go through the archive (is that what usually happens?) looking for stories that are eligible in their category, but it seems a waste of time if someone has/is going to compile the list.

Corrina, the list posted here doesn't have story links, only the story names, authors, and I think, their size. The links are only done on the Kerth site.

The Archive is up to date in the By-Date section (http://www.lcfanfic.com/bydate.htm), so checking out the stories by size might actually be easier over there than in here At least, it's always been for me The only 'downside' is stories that had already been submitted for the previous Kerths before going to the Archive are in there, too.

And even better for nerds like me who like to import the shebang in excel and mark the categories there (you know, waff, comedy, etc), the Archive Database (http://www.lcfanfic.com/ficdatabase.html) is also (almost) up to date for 2011.

It's the 16th here in sunny Oz, and my Kerth Quiz is just about ready to go (but I'll wait a few hours for the rest of the world to catch up a bit )

However, I have a question. The second quiz is scheduled for the 19th. Does that mean I should state that my quiz closes on the 18th? Is that when I should post answers and scores?

Is it important that one quiz be closed/finalised before the next quiz is posted?

We do try to complete one quiz before the next one is posted. The deadline for your quiz posted January 16th will be 11:59 PM on January 18th.

If possible, the scores and recommendations should be posted before the next quiz is posted. Sometimes that's not possible because of time zones and real life, but if it's going to be more than a day or so delayed, just post a note so we know!

I'm a bit new to the Kerth Awards, but the quizzes sound like fun.

Is there any page that shows what stories are eligible for the certain categories? I tried http://www.kerthawards.com/ but that site only has stories from last year.

Unfortunately, there appears to be a problem getting the list out this year. I sent it along to Tricia at the start of January, as usual and normally it would have been posted to the mbs by now.

I recall that, last year, she was also on vacation at this time, but I don't remember that hampering the posting of the list. So I'm wondering if she's having access problems where she is right now.

The website isn't normally updated with the list until it's been posted to the mbs.

I guess all we can do is wait for Tricia to get back from vacation - and back to her home net connection - at the end of January.
