In high school I knew a girl named Strawberry Fields and a guy named Arvee Wheeler.

Names like that?

Any "Ima" has the potential to be kind of funny and really embarrassing. smile

There were a couple of threads in OT about unusual names - you might find some in there.

Assumpta and Concepta are women's names used in Ireland in some Catholic families... wink

No kidding. When I was in high school, there was another guy in the class behind me named Perry Poot. And it was spelled just like that.

Place your own punch line here.

There's also a lot of fun to be had with military ranks and last names.

Captain Crunch
Major Nonno (Met one)
Private Parts
Seaman Drinkwater
Petty Officer Party (they called him Petty Party)
Lots more...

1. My grandfather's name was Clarence Napleon and he insisted on being called CN he hated it so bad.

2. I had a roommate that worked one summer as a receptionist. Everyone was in a meeting so she had to announce emergency calls over an intercom system. This man insisted on being put through and got really mad when she questioned his name - Jack Jock.

These are true happenings and real names. rotflol

Yee gawds...

I have seen a:
Sergeant Sargent
Captain Morgan

And in this cartoon I didn't watch there was a General Specific.

And um, I can probably come up with several embarrassing names, but alas I probably couldn't put them here.

Chanda Leer?
Seymore Butts?

And this woman who didn't speak very much english named her kid 'Female' and pronounced it 'feh-mall-ee'

Hi mishmishat. I have the privelege of marrying into a great family. But the last name can be very funny at times. Some people don't believe what my husband's name is. I won't post our names on a public board, but you can e-mail at winddancer_55945@yahoo.com and I can fill you in.

While I feel sorry for those people, please remember that this is a PG-13 folder, so some names aren't quite appropriate here. Even if their parents weren't thinking. eek But feel free to email them or post them directly to the author of the thread.

Sorry we had to edit your posts/delete content, Kmar and Catherine, but some of your suggestions were just too nfic for this particular folder. <g> Our apologies for that killjoy moment. wink

As Karen says, no reason you can't email your more nfic suggestions to mishmishat directly, since she's obviously not offended by them. laugh Although, if you used them in your story, mishmishat, you'd have to post it over in nfic. <g>

Dang! And that was WITH me holding back! wink

Sorry about that. If it hadn't been an actual name I'd seen, I wouldn't have even put it up. Poor girl.

LOL! No worries, Catherine - it's not exactly an easy line to figure out and easy enough to stray over it.

And there's no denying it was funny. laugh

my kid brother used to watcth that cartoon
General specific[/] from [i]Sheep in the big city

in that show as the general's assistant/sidekick
- Private Public...

I tend to think that all female names from Victorian England are too weird to be true...
Eugene,
and
Gertrude
being my favourites....
also Beatrix (aka BEatrice)
and a family I knew (who had the snootiest children... so pompous and arrogant....) were Grace, Faith, Hope, CHARITY, and Rose (really, they didn't like Prudence or Fortitude????)

Also Claudius/Claudia means club-foot or lame foot? (if I remember correctly)
totally weird
