As a faithful FOLC but ill-versed in the legend of the Superhero, I'm wondering if any explanation was ever given in Superman lore for Krypton's death. Was it self-destruction or caused by a force from without? I have a jim dandy explanation waiting in the wings but don't know if it will fit what may have already been spelled out in the Superman mythos. I'm posting this in several places hoping someone can help.

Original Explaination: Planet died of old age

Pre-Crisis Comics Explaination: Unstable uranium core caused fatal chain reaction.

Movie explaination: Drawn too close to sun, sun's gravity caused planet to explode

L&C Explaination: None, but that's what fanfic is for laugh

There was a terrific vignette where Krypton's other name was Alderaan and Jor-El and Lara send the baby off in the craft just before Darth Vader and the Death Star fires upon the planet and blows it up. Wish I could remember the story's name, but age, etc...
