There have been a lot of character and situational reversals but I don't think I've seen this one before. My ideas are below. Make changes as necessary but the challenge theme is "Greenhorn Lois Lane is paired with established reporter Clark Kent."
_____________________________________________
Clark has all but given up on his abilities, save what he uses in breaking stories. Clark has decided to make a difference as a reporter. He is comfortable as a reporter and produces a variety of stories from human interest to crime. Fear of discovery limits the use of his powers to what could be explained away--picking locks instead of breaking in, timely equipment breakdowns due to "normal" wear and so on. He's a favorite of Perry's because he's absolutely trustworthy to bring in the assigned story with solid writing and he produces more than the average reporter. Even though his investigative front page stories are infrequent, the ones he does bag shake the city.

Lois is aggressive and out to prove herself. She's itching to get into front page, major corruption stories and staying there. She lands her job at the Planet with a story about a major car theft ring that had been plaguing the city for five years. Her first week she makes the front page twice and nearly gets killed once.

On a hunch, Perry decides to team them up. What Perry sees as chemistry is more Clark's discomfort at Lois's rocking the boat and Lois's obstinate determination to never put on the yoke of mediocrity that she sees on Clark.

Interesting. I have several other projects going (and a couple of collaborations), but I may let this simmer for a while and see what comes out. It's an intriguing premise.

One never knows what might percolate.

Missy Gallant's Stranger Series fits the part of Clark being the seasoned reporter and Lois the greenhorn. She also meets Clark making a rescue while incognito before he becomes Superman, and before she meets him as Clark Kent.

Not exactly, but quite Close to what you ar elooking for is also the Home Series by Nan SMith. In this one, the next incarnation of Lois, fresh from the University, meets Clark who is an established Reporter for around 100 years.

I remember there being a series which flipped the script and Lois was superpowered instead of Clark. In that case, Clark was the Planet regular and Lois the new hire. I don't recall the name of it, though.

Hi Christina!

The story was called Louis and Clara by Pris. If I am not mistaken the story never made it to the archives. She wrote them around 2013.

Christina, Another possibility is ML Thompson's A Matter of Destiny Series in the archives.

A Matter of Destiny Part One

A Matter of Destiny Part Two

A Matter of Destiny Part Three

I'd forgotten it until you described it.

It was Louis and Clara that I was thinking of, probably. A Matter of Destiny is reasonable, too, though.

Looks like I have new stories to read and a few old favorites to reread! Thank you for the feedback. One of the things I love about this group is this huge, helpful cross reference on any subject.

Of course...the challenge is still available should it tickle anyone's muse.
