After reading Debbie Stark's delightful work Shortest L&C Story Ever which clocks in at 14 words, I decided to see if I could come up with something shorter. My ten word story, in the form of a haiku, is posted in the fanfic folder as "Hurricane Clark."

Cookiesmom thought this would be good fodder for a challenge, and I agree with her.

Anyone game for trying to come up with a story of nine words or fewer? (Hmmm...If there are a lot of responses, the Kerth committee next year might have to come up with a new category of ultra super short stories...)

Edit: Queen of the Capes posted a two word story as a separate thread. I think this challenge has wound down...

cheers,
Lynn
I'd appreciate it if people posting these short shorts would include something in the subject saying they're short shorts.

Lynn, someone suggested in another thread that all the "ficlets" be compiled into one file for the archive. I'll volunteer to do it sometime next week, unless you would prefer to do it because it was your challenge. I thought about organizing them into categories by number of words.

[Edit] Never mind, I just saw your post in the other thread saying you would do it.
Hi,

Thanks for your offer to volunteer; but as you saw, I've already gotten started. I think it might be a bit too confusing for everyone to change horses mid-stream, so to speak.

Great minds think alike! ;-) As you probably saw, that is exactly what I plan to do. The only exception I will likely make to that would be if, upon looking at the stories which I have been given permission to archive, I think some should "go together" - i.e., one is a sequel to another. I think I might have those sorts of stories in a separate section of the file. What do you think?
cheers,
Lynn
