Apparently, the city will serve as both Metropolis and Gotham in the film.
So I'm guessing no Chicago this time.
So, Detroit looks like Chicago after Zod destroyed it? peep
My first reaction is that they will have to fix things up to make them look right to be post-Zod destruction. However that is probably too harsh.

Look! It's Gotham City! peep
It'd be interesting if it's set post The Dark Knight Rises as well as Man of Steel - both cities in ruins!

It's my understanding that this version of Batman with have absolutely zip to do with any of the "Dark Knight" trilogy, so that's highly unlikely.

Nope. I think they'll have to fix things up to get it to that level.

Packard is just one of many abandoned factories in Detroit. There is a factory at the corner of I-75 and I-94 that is abandoned that my Mom observes has been looking abandoned since she first moved to Metro Detroit 35 years ago.
Some images showing what Detroit looked like when it was the 4th largest city in the country compared to now. Excellent photos, disturbing implications.
