An in-betweenie that I wrote when delaying putting up the next part due to editing on another board --

Hovering between life and death, Clark thought he heard Lois… calling his name…
He felt the flutter of fingers around his cheeks, her warm sweet breath, crying in his ear.
But he couldn’t speak, he couldn’t move. He couldn't offer her comfort.
He thought it was a dream. As I leave this life, I imagine her here.
And then, a searing pain once more in his gut, and then nothing…
Was he dead?
But suddenly, a painful gasp of life-giving breath filled his lungs.
The warm rays of the sun tingled over his body, slowly healing him and coaxing him back to life.
His eyes opened, blinking in the golden sunlight, and he glanced around.
Lois?
But he had imagined her… she wasn’t there.
Somehow, someone had pulled the dagger from his chest, pulled him away from death. And he was still on Earth… still alive.
Maybe hope comes after a storm, after all.
