My laptop was in hibernate when I pulled the screen back up it stayed black. Then I had to manel shut it off when i turned it on again it went to a window screen that said File system C:

File type system is NTFS the volume is dirty.

CHKDSK is verifing files (1 of 3)
File verification completed
CHKDSK is verifing indexs (2 of 3)
Deleteing index entry cansmall[1] jpg in index $I30 of file 53527

That's all I got wrote down before the scan was completed.

What did the above mean did I get a virus are was there just a one time problem that fixed it's self?

Your computer probably has that safeguard utility.. which checks for file inconsistencies every time its not shut down through the proper channels...

It's a safeguard... no virus smile

Random question: What exactly does FDK stand for?

Thanks,

Hey Smirky! FDK stands for feedback! We like feedback - lots and lots of it. <g>

I think that may be addressed in the "FAQ" section of the boards... but it was quicker for me to just tell you. <g>

Oh! Well, that's obvious. Still, I didn't even think about it until someone else asked *me*...lol

Thanks!

FDK was coined by Hazel in her story The Ultimate Drug . After it was posted, the term caught on...for reasons that will become obvious after reading. laugh

It's short, funny and worth checking out for any author. wink

LabRat, thank you so much for the heads up on that story. It was hilarious and very well done. This quote:

Quote
"Oh, yes," Dr. Folk nodded soberly. "There have been cases of
normally responsible men and women sneaking fixes in the
workplace, turning up red-eyed in the morning because they've
been up all night... I told you it isn't pretty, Ms. Lane. I
wasn't kidding."
was my favorite part because a) I am at work as I type this and b) I was up until 1:30 am on Sunday night reading a fic (Masques, actually!) and did indeed show up for work on Monday bleary eyed!

Dr. Folk indeed. I wonder, is there a FDKolics Anonymous? Probably not, since we all know each other.
