I've recced this web comic before, but the current storyline is leading up to the hero and heroine getting married, and has some nice ideas for L&C fanfic.

Wow! These are fantastic! They really do feel like Lois and Clark in serialized comic form- almost wondering if it began as a spoof of that relationship- only it's not like it's poking fun the whole time. Glad you shared!

It's a rom-com view of the L&C relationship, thinly disguised. But amidst the comedy, there's some serious exploration of the challenges of a superhero romance.

One I particularly liked - there's a flashback to their first date. Abby (*cough Lois cough*) asks Mark (*cough Clark cough*), "Well, what did you do today?"

Mark has a great thought bubble. He flashes back to his afternoon earlier today, where you see him dressed in his "Crusader" (*cough Superman cough*) uniform, fighting a Tyrannosaurus Rex. He says to the dinosaur, "Back to the Cretaceous with you!"

But since it's their first date, he can't tell her anything at all about him being the Crusader. So he has to say, "Oh nothing special." Funny and yet poignant at the same time.

The writer/artist has actually said in interviews (and on his website) that it is strongly inspired by "Lois and Clark: TNAOS" and it shows in a good way. I have some of the comics that are after they got married and they're all very good. I just need to go back and get the trades for some of the earlier stuff (which is showcased on his website as a webcomic.)

He gets the revelation scene out of the way on page 9 and she adjusts to it by page 13 .

His line is great where Abby asks him if he has a real job.

Abby: Are you even *really* an accountant?
Mark: Oh yeah. I still have to pay my bills somehow. Wearing a cape doesn't generate a paycheck.

I just do taxes at super speed. Except depreciation tables. Man, are those things complicated.

I found these and read up through page 175 or something in one night before remembering I have to commute to school in the morning... the only way I can keep it though is to either add it to my favorites tab and delete them as I go or just sort through my browser history. But the first one's easier. Not to delay you from your writing schedule- wouldn't want that! But in case you ever wanted to go back...

I was away from home this week so I stayed at work and read the whole series. OK, so now I'm officially a loser but I enjoyed it.

As Shallowford surely knows by now, Love and Capes gets posted three times a week, kind of like a prolific fanfic author (or one with a large buffer).

Might I suggest the October 7th strip? It contains a phrase with a familiar ring to it.

I loved the online comic so much I decided to order the books. What is online is far from the complete set of strips. There are three books available, and what is on the web is covered in the first book and about two thirds of the second book. Those books also contain some strips not put online. The print quality in the books is fantastic; they are a joy to read overall. (Disclaimer: I am still awaiting the third book, and so I only have knowledge of the quality of the first two books, but I have no reason to imagine that the third book differs from the first two in terms of quality.)

I would guess that anyone who enjoys Lois & Clark and who doesn't consider themselves above reading a comic strip would thoroughly enjoy Love & Capes.

I tried e-mailing the issue to you, but it is too large for my e-mail clients to handle. (It's almost 15 MB.)

The file is in PDF format, and I don't have the tools to break it up.

If you have an alternate way of my getting the file to you (an ftp site, for example), I'd be happy to do so.

If no one else can get you the file, I could always send you screen captures of each of the pages, but I only want to do that as a last resort, since it would be somewhat time consuming.

edit: I figured out how I could send it without too much effort. I pasted a copy of each page into Word. The Word document is "only" 8.2 MB. Can your e-mail server handle attachments of that size? If so, I can send you the file in one piece. If not, I could break it into smaller chunks.

There's an application called "CutePDF" that might help in downsizing PDFs. It installs as a printer and allows you to easily create PDFs from other documents. If you "print" the PDF to CutePDF or a similar program you can change the resolution /file size through the printer resolution settings and create a smaller file.
