I've recced this web comic before, but the current storyline is leading up to the hero and heroine getting married, and has some nice ideas for L&C fanfic.
For example, today's strip deals with one of the problems of a superhero's apartment...

I just love "Love and Capes"! Terry Leatherwood tipped me off about it, and I immediately had to buy the books!
Highly recommended.
They are super! I almost feel as though I am reading a Lois & Clark comic strip; even the initials are the same. :-)
Thanks for sharing that link.

Lynn
Wow! These are fantastic! They really do feel like Lois and Clark in serialized comic form- almost wondering if it began as a spoof of that relationship- only it's not like it's poking fun the whole time. Glad you shared!
It's a rom-com view of the L&C relationship, thinly disguised. But amidst the comedy, there's some serious exploration of the challenges of a superhero romance.
One I particularly liked - there's a flashback to their first date. Abby (*cough Lois cough*) asks Mark (*cough Clark cough*), "Well, what did you do today?"

Mark has a great thought bubble. He flashes back to his afternoon earlier today, where you see him dressed in his "Crusader" (*cough Superman cough*) uniform, fighting a Tyrannosaurus Rex. He says to the dinosaur, "Back to the Cretaceous with you!"
But since it's their first date, he can't tell her anything at all about him being the Crusader. So he has to say, "Oh nothing special." Funny and yet poignant at the same time.
The writer/artist has actually said in interviews (and on his website) that it is strongly inspired by "Lois and Clark: TNAOS" and it shows in a good way. I have some of the comics that are after they got married and they're all very good. I just need to go back and get the trades for some of the earlier stuff (which is showcased on his website as a webcomic.)
He gets the revelation scene out of the way on
page 9 and she adjusts to it by
page 13 .
His line is great where Abby asks him if he has a real job.
Abby: Are you even *really* an accountant?
Mark: Oh yeah. I still have to pay my bills somehow. Wearing a cape doesn't generate a paycheck.
I just do taxes at super speed. Except depreciation tables. Man, are those things complicated.
Hilarious!
Thanks for the recommendation!
I love what he gave her for Christmas! I wish Clark had thought of that.
Virginia, I know exactly what you mean! I found these and read up through page 175 or something in one night before remembering I have to commute to school in the morning... the only way I can keep it though is to either add it to my favorites tab and delete them as I go or just sort through my browser history. But the first one's easier. Not to delay you from your writing schedule- wouldn't want that! But in case you ever wanted to go back...
If you want to go back to a particular strip just make a note of the number at the end of the URL for the next time e.g.
change
http://loveandcapes.com/lnc/?p=573 to
http://loveandcapes.com/lnc/?p=175 to get to strip 166 (not sure why the numbers don't tie to the strip numbers, presumably some have been split into two or more parts).
/peeks in/
Great, now I've got a new piece of reading-fun to catch up
.
.
.
The first few parts, you really feel that the author's a LnC fan with those references.

Laughing out loud!!
http://www.loveandcapes.com/readit/lnc0126.html Thanks for posting this strip!

Off to procrastinate... read some more.
I was away from home this week so I stayed at work and read the whole series. OK, so now I'm officially a loser but I enjoyed it.
Any ideas when he posts new strips?
As Shallowford surely knows by now, Love and Capes gets posted three times a week, kind of like a prolific fanfic author (or one with a large buffer).
Might I suggest the October 7th strip? It contains a phrase with a familiar ring to it.
I loved the online comic so much I decided to order the books. What is online is far from the complete set of strips. There are three books available, and what is on the web is covered in the first book and about two thirds of the second book. Those books also contain some strips not put online. The print quality in the books is fantastic; they are a joy to read overall. (Disclaimer: I am still awaiting the third book, and so I only have knowledge of the quality of the first two books, but I have no reason to imagine that the third book differs from the first two in terms of quality.)
I would guess that anyone who enjoys Lois & Clark and who doesn't consider themselves above reading a comic strip would thoroughly enjoy Love & Capes.
Thanks again for the heads-up, Marcus.

Lynn
Continues to be awesome, as in this bonding session between Abby and Amazonia (a superheroine not totally unlike Wonder Woman and Mark's ex):

For those of you following another L&C, too.
There's a free Valentine's Day 6-page L&C comic.
Details here in the new's section:

Thanks for the heads-up, Michael. What a fun freebie.
I recently finished reading the third L&C collection and had been wanting something new. This short helped relieve my withdrawal symptoms.
Joy,

Rats, I missed it - did anyone download a copy and save it?
Marcus,
I tried e-mailing the issue to you, but it is too large for my e-mail clients to handle. (It's almost 15 MB.)
The file is in PDF format, and I don't have the tools to break it up.
If you have an alternate way of my getting the file to you (an ftp site, for example), I'd be happy to do so.
If no one else can get you the file, I could always send you screen captures of each of the pages, but I only want to do that as a last resort, since it would be somewhat time consuming.
Joy,
Lynn
edit: I figured out how I could send it without too much effort. I pasted a copy of each page into Word. The Word document is "only" 8.2 MB. Can your e-mail server handle attachments of that size? If so, I can send you the file in one piece. If not, I could break it into smaller chunks.
Lynn,
There's an application called "CutePDF" that might help in downsizing PDFs. It installs as a printer and allows you to easily create PDFs from other documents. If you "print" the PDF to CutePDF or a similar program you can change the resolution /file size through the printer resolution settings and create a smaller file.
Hope this helps,

Yes, 8.2mb is fine I think - do you have my email address?
I do. I got it from your website.
I will be sending the file from my netzero account rather than my usual one. My regular account has a 5MB limit for attachments, but my netzero account lets one e-mail 10MB attachments.
I just sent it out.
Enjoy,
Lynn
Doesn't seem to have reached me, I'm afraid, no idea why. Could I just double check that you're using myfirstname dot mylastname at gmail dot com?
I used the e-mail address available on your web site -- the ffutures account. Should I try sending it to your gmail account, or are you able to get it from the ffuteres one?
Joy,
Lynn
Crud - I thought that was deleted everywhere, I haven't used that email address in a VERY long time. Where did you see it?
The gmail address is the only one I use now.
I just sent the L&C issue to your gmail account.
I saw your old e-mail address at the bottom of the page
http://www.forgottenfutures.co.uk/ I haven't time to write more if I want to make Sunday school on time. I'll check back in a few hours.
Joy,
Lynn
edit - I just got back from Sunday school and saw that the e-mail I had tried to send to your gmail account bounced because of a typo. I'm trying to send it again. Let's hope that third time's the charm. Please let me know if you don't receive it in the next hour or so.
I'd forgotten that link was there - many thanks! Now fixed.
Just received - many thanks!
OK, I've just saved it as a PDF optimized for small file size, some minor fuzziness of the images if you look closely but it's still pretty good, came out at 3 MB. If anyone else missed it I will be happy to send it.
Hi Marcus,
Glad it arrived safely. No problem about the incorrect link. No harm done.
Happy reading,
Lynn
