I got a "Smurf" figure in Target's Dollar Spot and that brought back memories of the little blue creatures I loved as a young kid but also other 80's nostalgia.

Anyone else have and love their Atari 2600? I've never been a huge "gamer" but I sure got many hours of enjoyment out of that and Super Mario Brothers on Nintendo.

The above said does anyone know if any of the current gaming systems has the following older games. I'm only interested in the "old" original versions.

Super Mario Brothers
Tetris
QBert

Thanks,
Mona

Super Mario Brothers (including all glitches and bugs in the original game) got ported or emulated to the Nintendo Advanced (older and probably difficult to get) and is available via the Wii's Virtual Console. (I never managed to rescue the princess). I'm sure there are also unlicensed versions and ROMs for the PC around.

Versions of Tetris or Tetris-like games are available for virtually every system you can imagine, including the iPod and other mobile devices.

As far as I see, QBert is currently only available as a ROM to be played via the MAME emulator (unless you want to hunt down the SNES version).

I remember a DOS version of Qbert many years back, couldn't point at a current source for it though.

Yeah - you can DL most of the old Nintendo games into your WII. I want to say they're 5-10$ each, but don't hold me to that.

Of course, there's also lots of really cool games for the WII. There's a new Super Mario out that is supposed to be really good for multiplayers [but only okay for single player from the reviews I read].

OK, so this question is a little OT from the OT topic. What, in your opinion, is the best Wii game out now? (I'm thinking about a Christmas present for my 17-year-old daughter. She hated the game I bought her last year. And she is into stories, not sports.)

My 8yo loves the Ice Age 2 game.

We all love Wii sports resort - some of it is active, some is not.

I think the Ice Age game is the only story type game we have though smirk.

ETA: I've heard good things about the Animal Crossing - it's a Sims type thing I think...

We are very blessed to still own an operational NES system. It only works w/ game genie but we have Mario Bros. 1, 2 & 3, Marble Madness, Excite Bike, RBI Baseball, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and some others. They just don't make video games like they used to. I miss the simple controller.

I'm also a huge fan of Zelda: A Link to the Past on Super NES. Ooo and Sonic on Sega... good times. /happy nostalgic sigh

I have one too. My friends and I really loved Dr. Mario when we were about 15 ... we sometimes spent the whole afternoon in front of it.

I second that.

I really liked DOTT (Day of the Tentacle) for PC but it doesn't work with Windows XP grumble

Which game did you get her? What games does she like/ does she have?
