So this is sort of a spin-off of the other thread 'To do before you die'. We got to talking and there are some things that we have done or experienced that we wish we wouldn't have. This had me cracking up so I thought we could all mention something we wish wouldn't have happened or something we definitely don't want to see happen before we die.

Here's mine (I'm sure there are more but...)

1) Accidentally see my dad naked ...
(marked 'done' on my list *shudders*)
2) Get bitten by shark
3) Break a bone

There were some pretty funny ones listed in there by Marcus. And poor gr8 was mauled by a lion. So don't be shy! What's yours?

Most of the things I can come up with involve avoiding physical harm, but that's depressing so how about these:

1) Have to speak in public.
2) Faint at a wedding - almost happened when I was my sister's bridesmaid, but I sucked it up. Damn corset was too tight.
3) Go to jail - unless it's on a Monopoly board.
4) Work in the food service industry. Waitressing GAAAAHHHHHH!
5) Damage someone else's property eg crash their car, burn their house down, etc. Because OOPS!
6) Get fired!
7) Kill somebody.
8) Live through a war.
9) See a ghost.
10) Get abducted by aliens - or anything else for that matter.

I definitely agree with not going to jail.

But to add to that, how about being bitten by a snake *shudder*

That's a good list gr8. I'll have to add work in the food service industry to mine also. I've tried to avoid it at all costs. People are just so picky and impatient when it comes to their food.

punch a politician...I really don't think I could stop myself if I had the chance.

passing out in public
having an allergic reaction- anaphalitic shock
but above all: walking in on your parents getting it on aaahhh!!!!

I blew up a vacuum cleaner accidentally once - and managed to make money out of it many years later by selling an article to New Scientist . Found it on line a few weeks ago.

well, I rarely ever hear about laboratory accidents in the first place ... and my only "accident" even remotely in this area was when I received my first love bite from a vacuum pump in physics class

I second everything Eva said. Great article.

Of course I have no lab experience save for my rat dissection in 11th grade so the lab talk was a bit over my head but I do get a wonderful visual of a vacuum flying around the lab. Hilarious.

Something I'd add to the list: Don't let my dad repair anything. Once he managed to 'repair' a vacuum cleaner. My mom, already clever by this time, gave it to her sister. At first, she was ecstatic. A few days later, my mom got a call by her very angry sister (the 'repaired' vacuum cleaner had exploded...)

Your dad isn't Marcus Rowland, is it? *snicker*
