I'm thinking of planning a chick flick night for myself and a few friends and I was wondering what movies you guys think are perfect for it. I already have the following movies:

An Affair to Remember
His Girl Friday
Casablanca
Gone With the Wind
The Devil Wears Prada
From Here to Eternity
The King and I
Roman Holiday
Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Prince and Me
Princess Diaries I and II
Wimbeldon
High School Musical I and II
Romeo and Juliet
Coyote Ugly
A Streetcar Named Desire

Any more ideas? I know that the list above is more than enough, but I was hoping for more suggestions.

- The Big Easy
- Pride and Prejudice (the BBC -Colin Firth in a wet shirt version)
- Notorious
- Kill Bill

(more will come to mind during the day when I'm fully awake smile )

I'd suggest anything with Hugh Grant in it, like Two Weeks Notice, Music and Lyrics, Love Actually, Bridget Jones' Diary, Nothing Hill, Sense and Sensibility and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Dirty Dancing is a big favourite of mine as well, as is Ghost.

Hope that is of some help.

Hi Crazy_Babe,

Oooooh, I love chick flick night.

And while you already have a pretty eclectic selection here, I will add a couple more suggestions.

Here are the ones I already recommended in the top ten thread:

- Bridget Jones I+II (gotta love Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver fighting)
- The Truth about Cats and Dogs (so sweet, so funny, I wish I were Janeane Garafalo)
- Before Sunset + Before Sunrise
- Pillow Talk (Rock Hudson will always have a place in my heart)
- 50 First Dates (I never would have thought Adam Sandler would make such a great romantic lead, but it's really very sweet)
- Adam's Rib (I always love Spencer Tracy - and I love how strong a character Katherine Hepburn is in this, too)
- Two Weeks Notice (I love Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock)
- Garden State (funny, touching and the music is great)
- How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
- The Dinner Game (this French comedy is not very romantic, but fabulously funny, check it out at Amazon )
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (I love it and cry every time, makes you realize how intimately intertwined love and pain are)
- Station Agent (beautiful film about not fitting in, about friendship and isolation - and also very funny smile )

- To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar (never thought Patrick Swayze could be so funny and also touching)

Additionally, I think the following flicks also fit the bill:
- The Holiday: it's actually quite romantic, but it's probably too hot in Sydney to really enjoy it wink
- Love, Actually ... I personally don't love all stories in it, but some of them are just too sweet and funny
- Roman Holiday

Have fun,

Eva

Well, I haven't seen all of the movies on your list, but the ones I have seen, I've liked (except for HSM--haven't seen the second one, and don't care to). Here are my picks:

The Devil Wears Prada
The King and I
The Prince and Me
Princess Diaries I and II
Wimbeldon
Romeo and Juliet
Coyote Ugly

It's not really my genre, but now and then I splurge. <G>

Some favourites of mine are:

The Lake House
Love, Actually
Two Weeks Notice
50 First Dates

I know some of those have already been mentioned, but I'm adding a vote for them. laugh

And...what's the title of that one with Catherine Zeta Jones and George Clooney? I'm blanking on it, but it's a lot of fun. She surprised me in that one; I don't usually rate her as an actress.

Intolerable Cruelty, that was it. (Thank heavens for the IMDB laugh )

Ooh . . . The Lake House! I love that one!

I'll pretty much watch any movie rated G to PG-13 with Sandra Bullock in it. She's not my absolute favorite actress, but she's good.

Apparantly I really enjoy films with Drew Barrymore, Hugh Grant, and Julia Roberts. wink

It's another guilty pleasure of mine (right after Bad Boys II, lol): What Dreams May Come.

I don't know what about that movie gets me, but I always end up crying from like a fool from the first scene to the last. *shakes head*

LabRat, glad you gave the last three a second vote, they're all great.

In turn, I want to second Lake House - how could I ever forget that one?
I just love Keanu Reeves and I like Sandra Bullock very much. Also, Keanu is really good looking in this film (the jeans and the sturdy boots really work for me), the story is sweet, Keanu is a babe. And yes, did I mention how cute, sweet, sexy and good-looking Keanu is?
Well, you can't say it often enough.

I so know what you mean. When I first read about this movie, I thought I would hate it, but I also wound up crying whinging

Another picture which makes great entertainment for a chick flick night is Kenneth Brannagh's Much Ado About Nothing with Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, Kenneth himself, Robert Sean Leonard (or whatever the name of Houses's best friend is) and, I admit it, Keanu Reeves. Keanu isn't especially good in it, though, I have to admit. But the film itself is great, hilarious and entertaining. Love Beatrice and Benedick and Denzel makes the prince a lot less dull than he usually is wink
