16/16?? It's over? No!

Maybe I should put off reading it so I can look forward to reading it later.

Oh, who am I kidding? Of course I'm going to read it right this minute.

Quote
bald fact was that she could easily have killed Lucy when she'd lost control of the Volkswagen.
Somehow I missed the fact that Lucy and the others were actually in the car that Ellen almost hit. I guess I thought they were just walking by or something. *rolls eyes* Hello, duh, Lisa!

Quote
"Your mother's being charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. The judge has set bail at a hundred thousand dollars."
Well deserved!

Quote
Lucy, who had been sitting quietly on the waiting room's sofa, stared at him for a moment. "Wow," she said, with relish. "I guess Mom's going to have to stay in jail for a while."
clap

Yay for returning superpowers!

Quote
"I want to be someone you're proud of," he said. "Whether I'm an alien or an ordinary man, I want live up to having you for my wife."
Oh! *sniffle*

I love Lois telling off her mother, and I love this even more:

Quote
I have to go. Clark was out last night fighting a fire at one of the nearby farms and he's going to want some breakfast when he wakes up.
This could be construed as the little housewife having to wait on her husband hand and foot, but we know that isn't the case here. She wants to take care of him because she loves him and she's proud of him. And I love that.

Quote
"I'm back to being a doofus again," Clark said, smiling at her.

"You never stopped," Lois said. "But you're the man I'd pick all over again if I had to. And you're the man I'll love for the rest of my life."

(snip)

"Your wish is my command," Clark said, slipping an arm around her waist. He opened the door for her and let her precede him into the hall. As he closed the door, she turned.

"It always was, wasn't it?" she said softly.

"Yes," he said. He leaned forward to take her face in both hands and kissed her gently. "It always was. And it always will be."
This is beautiful. And the best thing about it is that it is so real. There really is love like this, marriages like this, and I couldn't wish for anything better or happier for our favorite couple.

Wonderful story, Nan. All your stories are, but I especially loved this one. I think may have already said that I have a fondness for young L&C just-starting-out stories, and this is one of the best. I'm sad that it is over, though! Any hope that this will be the first story in a series?

Aww beautiful ending! I wouldn't say I'm normally a huge fan of tracking a young L&C throughout an entire story, but this set-up was just perfect for me! Thanks for writing and sharing such a fabulous story!

Loved the tale... very lovely clap clap

I just caught up on this, Nan, and enjoyed it so much! Ellen certainly got what was coming to her, and I'm glad her family decided to go the tough love route rather than allowing her to continue to poison their lives without consequences. Lois and Clark seem set on a sensible, if difficult, path, and I don't doubt that they'll find a way to create Superman, even with everything else they have to do.

Thanks for a terrific story smile .

Wonderful story, Nan! I like the way that Ellen is being dealt with. I've loved the whole journey of our favorite characters. It's an interesting take! laugh

Nice. Makes you wish for a sequel. How does Clark deal with Superman during studies? How do they get to Metropolis and start at the Planet? And of course, how does a Smallville-mellowed Lois, happily married, deal with Metropolis? Not to mention the fact, that Superman makes an appearance before our intrepid reporter has come to pass for the introduction of the superhero. I don't think there has been a take on L&C being together, raising their child at that age. I has always been a blank, and they got back together later on. And of course, will they manage not to enlarge their family before establishing themselves?

Not much time to write today, but I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your entire story and that the final chapter was wonderful.

Hope to see something else again soon--I LOVE your stories.

This was great! I was a little unsure of this story at first, although I'm not sure why. But I was hooked by the end of chapter 1 and it's just gotten better all the way through.

I, too, somehow missed the fact that Ellen almost killed Lucy, but it makes a nice end to the story - Lucy didn't die, but unless you subscribe to the idea that Ellen is just plain evil, she'll sober up and see the error of her ways. For most mothers, almost killing their daughter would be the wake up call that they need.

I also love the L&C relationship. It built so well from friendship into love and it ends perfectly with them blissfully in love.

Nan, didn't you typo that? Wasn't it supposed to be 16/32? wink

Thank you for writing this story. It was lovely, and I have so enjoyed reading it. I hope you write a sequel!

I'm with the others - 16? That's it?

But Nan is known for her sequels/series, so there is still hope for more smile .

More is what I'd like.

Sorry I've been absent the last few parts - life has been CRAZY but I was always glad to see another part!

More soon if you don't mind [or more Home... or Supercop... or... you get the .jpg]

Nan, I'm sorry I've been negligent with FDK during this story, but rest assured, I have been reading.

I just wanted to say that I adored this story. I too love young LnC stories. And I love how you've portrayed their affection/lust/love for one another. It rings true.

And because of all this, I too am hoping for a sequel...a series even? laugh

Nan, nicely wrapped up. I'm glad that Ellen was forced to face her demons. And I like this Sam Lane, too.

Beautifully done!

Thanks everyone. I needed the fdk to keep going as fast as I did -- this has been a harrowing couple of months. I'll probably get back to this world after a while. I still have the sequel to The Hottest Team in Town to do and then I've promised a couple of people that I'd do a sequel to Halloween -- I'm thinking of writing one about the Lois and Clark that Lois met in the other world.

Anyway, I appreciate the comments. Nothing is so discouraging as to put a lot of effort into a story and no one seems to be reading, so it's nice to know that they are, even if it's just a word or two.

I keep hoping (futilely, it seems, sometimes) that life will quiet down a little for a while. Maybe 2008 will be a nice, uneventful year. <g> In the meantime, Merry Christmas to all, as it says in the poem. Now I'm off to Christmas shop for the grandkids.

And don't forget TU!

I hope your 2008 is uneventful as well.

Wow, what a ride. I loved it, like I do all your work.

I especially liked the car chase and the baby save.

doofus...hmmm. I think I could get used to Elisabeth saying that to me, maybe.
