God ... couldn't you have put a hankie-alert at the top of your story? I had two options: stop reading to get a hankie or using whatever was in my reach. Well ... that tee-shirt already was on it's way to laundry so who cares blush

Great story, although I'm still sniffling whinging

Ditto the tissue warning.

Beautiful, if incredibly sad.

Great job.

Wow, was that emotional. I'm glad my roommates are gone because they would have thought something was really wrong with me! mecry

This was beautifully written. I'm glad you shared it with us.

Very beautiful and poignant. The grief never felt contrived and at the end it really was hopeful.

Good stuff!

I'm happy to see you've posted, Sas!

Touching little story and the tone is just right. Very well written! thumbsup

I especially liked this part:

Quote
He thought about the last words they'd said to each other. He'd told her to stay put, to not endanger herself without him nearby. She'd scoffed, saying she wasn't stupid and could take care of herself. The same old discussion. He'd known she would go anyway, the minute he flew off to Austria. That was how she worked and he'd merely rolled his eyes when he'd seen her dodge away. He hadn't even kissed her then, or smiled at her one last time. But how was he to know that was the last time he'd see her alive?
This is precisely what often happens in real life. mecry

I can vividly picture the scene as it must have happened. Poor Clark... not having that last kiss, that last hug, on that last day... it will haunt him forever.

But even Clark Kent needs closure and you've shown us a glimpse of how he's planning to move forward.

Good job, Sas!

My god! I feel like I need some prozac now!

I probably shouldn't have read this considering the mood I've been in lately. Even so, I'm glad I did. It was so beautifully sad. And it drove home the reminder to always cherish what we have.

Thank you for sharing.

a great sad fic. You catched the emotions perfectly.

Thanks for sharing. I love happy endings but sometimes live doesn't present them.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. smile Though I'm sorry about the lack of tissue-warning. It simply didn't occure to me as it made me feel better to write it down instead of crying. But it's the best compliment I have ever received about my writing. So thank you!
