Really liked this one. Thanks for keeping up Ficlet Friday. I love it that you still continue this AU. Poor Clark. The interaction with the kids was great and I'm so glad he recognized the movie

Hi Mary!

Sneaking a short one in before catchup continues!
Quote
It’s also part of a series. The rest of them can be found here.
Oooooh, it’s the brainless Clark series clap

CLARK: confused
LOIS: mad
What? He forgets it anyway!
LOIS: mecry

Movie Night

“I’m a tiger!”
Kids?

Quote
The cacophony of popcorn in the microwave didn’t quite drown out the sound of their daughter growling at top volume in the living room.
Kid. And it looks like she’s going for a Catwoman impression.

Quote
”Oh, a tiger?” The playful tone in Clark’s voice brought a smile to Lois’s lips as she watched the timer count down. “Are you a friendly tiger?”
BRUCE: The real Catwoman is.

Quote
NO! I am a MEAN tiger, and I’m going to EAT all of you!”
Oh. So… umm… peep /Googles Kryptonian-safe bunker/

Quote
The popping slowed to intermittent bursts, even as the growling grew more intense.

“Oh, no!” Clark exclaimed in mock-terror. “Who will save us from this hungry tiger?”
Friendly Mr. Microwave. Lois invites him over when he’s in town. They had wonderful times during the early years before she met Clark and he remained a good friend ever since then. Always good for a snack.

Quote
”Me!” came their older son’s clear, high voice. “Because I’m…um…I’m water!”
CATWOMAN: cat

Quote
”Nuh-uh! Because a tiger is a cat, and cats hate water! So…” Their son waved his arms at his sister. “Splash! Splash!”
Didn’t the tiger in Jungle Book swim?

Quote
Lois managed to dodge the children now racing around the sofa and set the overflowing bowl on the coffee table.
Kids. Bullets. Cabs. Perry’s tamper tantrums. She’s good at dodging.

Quote
”Come on, you two! Let’s start the movie.”

At a speed that would have made Superman proud, two butts hit the floor in front of the couch, eyes glued to the television.
laugh

Quote
Clark turned to her as she reached for the remote. “What’s this movie, again?”

Lois kept her smile in place. “The Princess Bride. I…think you’ll like it.”
Poor dear. And that hitch in Lois’s voice!

Quote
Her life wasn’t a schmaltzy movie, and her true love wasn’t coming back from seeming death.
Hmm…

Quote
“Death cannot stop true love; it can only delay it for a while.”
As witnessed in Soul Mates.

Quote
A sudden motion drew her gaze downwards. Clark’s leg had started to kick.
Eep!

Quote
Clark’s eyebrows raised when he saw the television. “Oh! I think I’ve seen this one…” His forehead scrunched. “…Haven’t I?”
whinging

Quote
He closed his eyes, thinking. “Death cannot stop true love; it can only delay it for a while.” He looked back at her, his eyes holding an unspoken question.

She smiled at him. “I will never doubt again,” she quoted, and pulled him in for a kiss.

-END-
Awwwwwwww

You really do beautiful non-comedy, too clap

This whole series really breaks me. You convey so much in these snapshots.

Quote
"Are you a friendly tiger?"
"NO! I am a MEAN tiger, and I'm going to EAT all of you!"
Well, naturally. I love the way you captured this chaos - kids always tend to go for the high drama! lol

Quote
Clark smiled at the pair, his eyes dancing.
It's really sweet that even if he can't remember it, he's really still very much himself at heart.

Quote
At the time, he'd been incredulous that she hadn't seen it. Lois had been ready to dismiss it as a kiddie film, just as she'd been ready to dismiss her partner as a naive farmboy. In truth, she had underestimated both.
I loooove this, both the parallel you're creating and the satisfying end to this paragraph.

Quote
At the time, she'd thought that maybe watching his favorite movie would make her feel closer to him somehow.
This is such a realistic insight into grief, particularly the breakdown/rejection of it when it doesn't work.

Quote
Lois looked over and saw the familiar, faraway look in his eyes. “Clark?”
He gasped. “...air…”
Ugh, yes, this kind of thing always happens at the most mundane or unexpected times.

Quote
She squeezed his hand again. “You have, but it's okay if you don't remember.”

So much melancholy wrapped up in this! Really lovely look into this universe.

Queenie, this series is enjoyable, but at the same time incredibly sad.

Oh, I hope some day his memories return.

Lois is a good and patient wife. mecry

This series... if I just give you the same feedback every time, does it get boring? Because they break my heart in like the best way and it's just...
