Why, yes, I *am* trying to go for a record number of cliffies in a row, why do you ask? wink

Lana!

Oh dear. After such an emotional chapter - learning all that had happened to Jor-El, and the possible beginnings of a small relationship between Clark and his new found father ...

you do that!

Do we have to wait till next Saturday? Really?

Wow! Such a huge chapter jawdrop. So much to take in! And yes, another cliffhanger evil.

I'm glad that Lois knows what is going on now (concerning Clark/Superman). I don't know how Clark could have hid any of this from her--considering the situation in this chapter--but it is great that she is aware of Clark's past.

You could really feel the strain between Jor-el and Clark. But, really, I wouldn't expect it to have felt anything but awkward and different. To discover your long-lost son is alive. To have him thrown into your cell with you, after years of being contained. To find out your biological dad is alive--after thinking your whole life that he is dead. And then to throw Kryptonite into the mix! Along with Lois there--witnessing everything as it is happening. So so much to take in for everyone.

Really wanting to read more--and have currently a week to wait mecry...

Hehe, sorry, I'm terrible for the cliffie. But boy was it fun! Glad you liked the chapter. I had a lot of fun bringing Jor-El into the mix. Poor Clark - what a mental place to be in!

I liked this revelation. It's different from the standard "Lois gets mad" situation. She's mad but she's facing immediate danger, so she doesn't even get a chance to process her anger. And she's getting an up close and personal look at why he's afraid to let the secret out.

Glad that you could feel the strain and that it worked for you. It would have been very weird indeed for an immediate love-fest to occur.

Thanks for reading!

Clark has just met his Kryptonian father...and he's reacting very calmly. Maybe when they get out of Bureau 39's prison, he can react emotionally. Proof of alien life would be shocking enough - proof that his father is still alive should provoke a whole host of conflicting emotions. That would be interesting to read. Good story - looking forward to more. thumbsup

Lana? thud Totally didn't expect that twist!

Yes, Clark's pretty calm about meeting his father, but he's dealing with quite a bit at the moment. Lois discovering his secret, Kryptonite exposure, the realization that there's something out there that could hurt him and possibly kill him, and being captured by some seriously scary guys. I hope both and Jor-El make it out alive so that they can talk more later. Then, again, Jor-El might tell him about Zara, his birth wife. That wouldn't be good for his now-very-rocky romance with Lois.

What happened to have the US Government turn against Jor-El in such a way? He was doing well, giving them technology, and suddenly he's #1 bad guy. Didn't he have any friends in Washington, DC or did he just realize what he thought had been a friendly relationship never was and that he had always been these people's prisoner? If/When Clark escapes, how will how Jor-El has been treated effect Superman's relationship with the US Government? Apparently, they sanctioned what went on with his father and what Trask wants to do with him.

Very scary time for Clark. How will they escape?

Yes, Clark's not really emotionally reacting to Jor-El at the moment. But he's got a lot going on at the moment. He's got Kryptonite to contend with and Lois to keep alive. That's pretty much where his focus is, and, in fact, he's purposefully trying not to deal with his emotions toward the whole "dad's still alive" thing, so he can keep a clear head.

He'll get some time to explore his thoughts on Jor-El though...

Thanks for continuing to read!

Wahoo! My twist worked! (Yes, I have a legit reason for Lana to be there. My muse cackled with such evil when she thought of this.)

In this universe, the marriage union between Clark and Zara never happened. Zara was off-planet before Clark was born, so there was no official ceremony. A pre-birth "engagement," yes, but nothing more than that. (I find the idea of marrying two unborn kids way too creepy to even consider, so they are merely promised to one another until both are born and the Elders do their Elders thing and marry them.)

Without giving too much up, fear of Jor-El's powers turned B39 against him. And Trask's innate xenophobia. B39 WAS government funded but, well...you'll see. Could this affect Clark's dealings with the government in the future? Maybe, but I chose not to go that route. I had a different story in mind. Besides, in my mind, all of the bad stuff that happened to Jor-El was sort of done without the government necessarily even knowing about it. A lot of "behind closed doors and a forgotten agency" kind of thing, especially once the advances in technology started.

Escape? Well...<evil grin>
