The plot thickens! Perhaps they have a chance to intercept them and now they have two witnesses to testify against the uncle.

Better late than never... Sorry Jacques, Alfred is a much better butler than you! :P

Sure! So Lucious and his mobsters could go ravaging the house without being disturbed... *rolls eyes*

Sorry you got sick, Chris... Have a speedy recovery! smile

Very true! He's out in the open now. Almost any servant in the house would probably be happy to testify. :-)

Sorry, HiddenMoon, but I've got to stick up for my buddy, Jacques! He was down in the cave and the tunnel tending to the horses. He wouldn't have heard anything from down there. And, not that it's a big deal, but Jacques is a valet, not a butler.

Thanks! Grateful it's just a head cold and not the flu. Icky enough, but it won't hang around as long as the flu would have done. :-)

The problem with that, as I see it, is the fact that the house and everything in it beings to him anyhow, so technically, he isn't stealing anything.

Not Lavinia! He could still be charged with kidnapping and assault.

Technically, he's not "stealing" and yet in a way he is. He's taking things that were passed down through generations, each Earl keeping them in trust for his heirs. But Lucius has never had any proper family feeling so it won't bother him at all if the place falls down once he's gone, as long as he's gotten what he can from it first.

Good points for discussion!

Yes,I had considered he kidnap as the exception and had meant to edit my previous comment in that vein.

Cool!
I've read some of your work, Ken, so I'm not surprised. Good detail there.
Looking forward to reading more of the many longer stories I've seen posted by several authors.

Could there also be charges for assaulting and tying up Cedric and the Professor? Something along the lines of unlawful imprisonment perhaps?

Definitely! I think the Brits call it GBH (grievous bodily harm).

You have me on pins and needles...worrying about Cedric...worrying about Lavinia. I had many a thought, as I read this, that potentially Lucius/etc might still be around...waiting for an opportunity to find the missing thugs, take more items from the estate, generally do more 'bad guy' type of things. Glad they seem to have left...but--that means Lavinia has gone with them frown.

Catching up is fun to do smile
