That's it, it's done!

I want to say a massive thank you to KenJ and Trina for beta-reading this story... and prodding me along when I needed it. They actually got the first drafts of what became this story almost a year ago, so it's been a long time coming.

Thanks also goes to Lori, Kismatt, Deadly Chakram, ChrisPat, Peg and the rest of the #lanekent crew for helping me translate my Aussie English into American terms.

And finally, thank you to everyone that has been reading and commenting on this story... I really appreciate it.

Feli.

I loved it. The ending was especially sweet, with the pseudo proposal in the newsroom. Makes me wish there were an epilogue to the epilogue.

Instead, to his surprise and delight she pulled his head down and kissed him deeply in full view of the interested newsroom staff.

“Stay forever.”

Standing ovation! clap clap clap

What-An-Ending notworthy

I was aching for Clark to return--for things to get back to a new 'normal' of them partners at work and more, but you took it to a lovely, even better place! Clark's wordage, Lois' response, and what all is implied between them, really brings everything to such a wonderful ending.

Sad for the story to be over, but I really did love this epilogue smile.

Great job--I've really enjoyed this story hail
Laura

All your hard work has reaped much rewards! The ending was short, sweet and TOTALLY Lois and Clark. smile1

Well your 'First Sight' stories demonstrate how well you can communicate with very few words. I was expecting a longer epilogue to finish up this story and was surprised (I should not have been) to find this short little jewel. You applied your mastery to wrap the story up and setup the future in just a few words.

Kudos on the entire story as your first multi-chapter effort. But as others have said the epilogue was the icing on the cake. Well done.

What a sweet ending to such a well-written tale. Lois and Clark only being able to see one another twice in those 2-3 weeks only hammers in the reason that a long-distant relationship wouldn't work for them. They're too busy to have "free time" to spend together (unless they give up sleep).

Of course, he'd (lunkheadly) want to surprise her. [Linked Image] So Clark!

Stupidly, she'd thought it would be like before she went to Paris. She'd miss him, yeah, but it would be a low-grade thing, like a distant ache. Not this grinding, yearning loneliness. She sighed.
I love this! It's so Lois! Of course, she wouldn't realize HOW much their relationship had changed in France.

I love how she had been guarding CLARK'S desk from new hires who might unsuspectingly be assigned a desk that wasn't rightfully their's.

“Permanently. That is, if you'll have me?”
clap Just like Clark to inadvertently propose too early! Love it!

“Get back to work. This is a newsroom, not happy hour at Buckingham Palace!”
So Perry! Although, I can't see this kind of proposal there. wink (There's a 'happy hour' at the Buckingham Palace?)

One little quibble:
Quote
Clark followed Lois back to her desk. Later, they needed to talk - after all, he'd practically proposed in the middle of the newsroom, and she'd accepted - but right now, he had a lot to catch up on.
Wasn't Clark already at Lois desk (with the two coffees) when she ran to greet him?

What a wonderful WAFFy ending to a story that wins on both A and B plots! clap I enjoyed it very much!

Sorry I arrive late at the comment party smile
And yet I have to confirm my initial impression: you definitely have the potential to write longer stories!
I like the fact that, in spite of having a love declaration in the first stages of the story, you refrained from excessive romanticism: there's something refreshing in reading a story with just a spoonful of sugar in it (and not all the jar).
I'll wait for the next story! wink

What a delightful end to this wonderful story! clap clap clap

I'm amazed and in awe of the way you wove two complicated plots - A and B - into your first long story. notworthy hail

Clark belatedly realizing his idea of a surprise might not have been the best choice, their inability to get together because of their schedules, Lois's yearning for Clark and realization of how she now feels, Lois's reaction to the surprise and Clark's proposal in front of the newsroom are just some of the details that I love in this epilogue. thumbsup

Next on my list is to reread the whole story to see what I missed the first time! hyper
