Well, what do you think so far?

Great start. My heart just broke for poor Clark.

Poor alt-Clark. mecry

Quote
The two government people up in the front spoke in low, subdued tones, assuming he wouldn’t be able to hear them over the rumble of the engine and the sound of the road.
Were they driving him to Witchita? Poor Clark, uprooted completely.

Quote
Of course, none of them took his freakish hearing into account.
Did everyone know about his freakish hearing?

Quote
Clark wondered idly whether they were taking him to a government laboratory. His father had always warned him that they’d dissect him like a frog if they knew what he was.

Somehow, he couldn’t find it in him to care.
That was probably because he felt like he deserved it for not saving his folks. He might as well die too. What horrible thoughts for a 10 year old.

Moving. I bet you have us all by the time you reach the end.

/pst. if you add the other stages under the same title, perhaps you should add "stage one" to the header line/

wonderful start.

Let's see where this goes.

whinging Poor, poor Alt-Clark! I feel so bad for him. He's only ten- he can't expect to know what to do! Or how to react in the aftermath! My heart just breaks for him! To be so young and go through so much... mecry

So. Can we expect an angry Clark to come next? Brooding? Breaking things? Running away? Extraneous use of his powers? Swearing? eek wink

Can't wait for more.

Yes, poor Clark!

When I read "The two government people", my first thought was: Trask!

I hope I'm wrong.

Poor Clark - blaming himself for something he most likely couldn't control.

Prelude to Veritas, or another alt world? Looking forward to more anyway.

Trying to think who might end up adopting him. Are there any canon characters of interest with origins in Kansas? Or crossovers?

Everybody else already said it - great start. I'm looking forward to the Anger, Bargaining, and Depression stages. (or whatever the other stages are, I'm rusty on them.)

I'm a sucker for Alt-Clark and this explains exactly why I feel that way. Great start. I hope there is more forthcoming.

Canon is fine, but an alt-alt version would be good, too.

Wow, crushing.

Will there be more?
