The Forgotten Clark loses his powers apparently permanently. However the story is mainly about his recovery from being captured for years. Has anyone done a story where he just loses the powers and otherwise has nothing happen. He would still try to help but how. Reporting and spending more time uncovering crime and corruption? Volunteering? Becoming a non-powered superhero?
A variant would be for the red K power transfer to Lois never be figured out or the device destroyed and can't be rebuilt. So Lois has powers and Clark never gets them back.
