When I wrote this story I had intended for it to be a standalone, but when I reread it, I realized that it worked perfectly as a sequel to my story My Life in Books. I wrote this story several weeks after I wrote the other one

As always, all feedback appreciated.

I, too, prefer to lead a boring life over actually experiening all the adventures or blows of fate books tell us about.

When I was young, I heard about what I had been told was a Chinese curse: May you live in interesting times. As a child, I didn't understand why this was considered a curse. As an adult, I most certainly do.

Thanks for the feedback, Barbara.
