Picture a AU (n15s1) where Clark did not return from his first attempt at stopping Nightfall.
Into this universe Tempus dumps a non powered Clark Kent from another AU (n16s3) during the time when Lois Lane was Ultrawoman.
But in n16s3 the Ultrawoman events occurred AFTER Lois and Clark were already married.
And he dumps UltraWoman as well. It is UltraWoman who has to stop the rest of Nightfall.
So now we have an AU with a missing Superman, a UltraWoman and a non powered Clark.
Clark of n16s3 is of course more distant in manner toward the N15s1 Lois, who is grieving
Superman's death.
Clark also can't completely hide his feeling for his Lois (n15s3 UltraWoman) from the sharp eye of Lois Lane (n15s1).
The Clark and Lois of n16s3 are both living at the apartment of the missing Clark of n15s1's.
Lois uses a wig and avoids meeting her Alternate self. Everyone at the Planet thinks Clark went off the deep end during Nightfall and got married.
Both the n15s3 Lois & Clark know about lex Luthor and are working on bringing him down.
But the n15s1 Lois is still dating him.
Clark Kent married to UltraWoman, working at the Daily Planet, sometimes with a woman who is a lot like but clearly is not, his wife.

Hmm, picture it this way, Superman has stopped most of Nightfall but a tiny bit is still hurling Earthward. Superman is nowhere to be found. A naked man in a crater is not found by the MPD. As a world goes mad Clark Kent arrives at EPRAD COMMAND AND CONTROL with a new Super person. Ultra Woman! She gets a tank with a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen and flys up to confront the rest of Nightfall. In the city room of the Daily Planet Lois Lane watches in shock as the cameras track upward capturing images of this new "Ultra Woman" as she flys up, up and away. In the background article exclusive to the Daily Planet by Clark Kent it is revealed that Ultra Woman is married to Superman. As Lois reels from this shock, she hears Clark taking a call and using words like "Honey" and "sweetheart" to the caller. "New girlfriend?" she asks "Wife" he answers holding up his left hand to display a wedding band.

However if you accept the Superman as a battery theory there will be Superman again. Thus the reason for saying Ultra Woman is married to Superman. And UW-Lois is indeed married to the man who was Superman even if not that Universe's Superman. Nicely takes her off the market. Plus I like to picture the Lois of that Universe's, hereafter called city room Lois (CR-Lois), reaction to hearing Superman is married and then finding out Clark is married. Future ward there could be a rewrite of "Top Copy" with someone trying to prove Lois is Ultra Woman, easily disproved since in there are now two Lois Lanes. And picture the fun with the UW-Lois running around town looking for evidence against Luthor at the same time as CR-Lois is dating him. Just love it when Lex sees video of UW-Lois as Lois taken at a time when he knows Lois was with him!

And to make it more fun we still don't know what happen to the Clark of this AU when he went against Nightfall. Did He ... - Die?
- Get rescued in space by the New Kryptonians?
- Get tossed into the AU that Ultra Woman and non powered Clark came from?
- End up without his memory someplace else on Earth? (As in Tank\'s Day Follows Nightfall)
- Get tossed forward in time?
