Just a reminder, a fanfiction becomes eligible for the Kerths when the completed story is posted to the boards (Lcficmbs, AO3, or Zoomway) or submitted through the archives before Jan 1. If a story is posted elsewhere, you can request eligibility by emailing the KCOM at kcom@kerthawards.com.

Kerth Categories

Micro-Short
Micro-Short is for all stories between 1 and 5kb in size.

Short-Short
Micro-Short is for all stories between 6 and 10 kb in size.

Short
Short is for all stories between 11 and 50kb in size.

Mid-Length
Mid-Length is for all stories between 51 and 200kb in size.

Epic
Epic is for all stories over 201kb in size.

Best Introspective
A fanfiction that gets inside a character's head and allows introspective thought to become the main focus on the story.

Best Waffy - (Short 1 - 10kb ) / (Long 11kb+)
Warm and Fuzzy Feeling. You read it, and you get that warm and fuzzy feeling all over because it's just a fun feel-good story. Broken into Short and Long subsection categories.

Best Character Development - (Short 1 - 10kb ) / (Long 11kb+)
Any character throughout the fanfiction showing growth or change / development from the beginning to the end of the story.

Most Innovative Idea - (Short 1 - 10kb ) / (Long 11kb+)
A creative idea that thinks outside the normal parameters seen in everyday fics. Broken into Short and Long subsection categories.

Best Comedy - (Short 1 - 10kb ) / (Long 11kb+)
Fun, happy, makes you laugh while you're reading it. Broken into Short and Long subsection categories.

Best Villain
Any villain in the fanfiction.

Best Original Character - (Short 1 - 10kb ) / (Long 11kb+)
This category is designated for characters other than Lois and Clark that the author has taken extra care to make them shine in their own original way. It can be any of the original supporting cast or new characters or even some of the villains that we've come to love to hate. Broken into Short and Long subsection categories.

Best Relationship Story - (Short 1 - 10kb ) / (Long 11kb+)
Story that shows a developing relationship between Lois and Clark. It doesn't have to end up with the duo together but must show a change in their relationship from the beginning of the fic to the end. Broken into Short and Long subsection categories.

Best Episode Adaptation - (Short 1 - 10kb ) / (Long 11kb+)
A rewrite of an episode or a fanfiction picking up at the end of an episode. Broken into Short and Long subsection categories.

Best Revelation - (Short 1 - 10kb ) / (Long 11kb+)
Someone finds out Clark is Superman. Most of the time it's Lois, but there have been others to become privy to this secret. Any fic that reveals this to a character in the fanfic is eligible for this category. Broken into Short and Long subsection categories.

Best Alternate Universe / Elsewhere/ Next Gen
This category is combined due to not having enough in each area to warrant a category for each.
Alternate Universe is when characters have veered off completely from canon or relate to the original Alt. Universe on the show.
Elsewhere are fanfictions that veer off completely from the original canon stories. (ie: something happened prior to Pilot to change the course of the characters and plot, etc..)
Next Gen is where the next generation of superheroes becomes a main part of the plot.

Best Drama
There's action. There's suspense. There's drama. You gotta know what's going to happen. You get the picture right?

Best Seasonal Story
Any fanfiction that is set during a holiday. Christmas, Easter, April Fool's Day...You get the idea.

Best Crossovers
A story that introduces characters from another television series outside of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman but takes place in the Lois and Clark universe

Best New Author
Limited to authors who first published their Lois & Clark stories in the past year.

Best Overall
Best overall fic from any fanfiction completed that year.

Quick note: The story listed as "Love Without An End Amen" is actually "Love Without End, Amen." The title is borrowed from a county hit from a few years back.

Hate to pick nits, but if this were my story it would bother me no end. Hopefully Cuiadora is not as ADOS (Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny!) as I am.

Hey, if I'd put this page together, y'all would be lucky not to have to read the title backward. I'm always impressed that the Kerth pages are this accurate. (You should see the typos I would have left in Werewolves if not for an excellent GE!)

Funny how the typos still creep in, even after checking, rechecking, and rechecking the rechecked things happens. I've had a few fic-related doozies myself - just ask Val or Feli as they've done beta work for me.

I don't know who put together the banner at the top of the thread, but it's fantastic! It covers so much of Lois and Clark and Teri and Dean, and despite its design it doesn't overwhelm the viewer. I really like the black-and-white background under the see-through color shots of Dean and Teri. Whoever you are, you are a graphics arts genius. Thank you.

Quick question. What time will Kerths be? It just says the 18th. Is it yet to be decided? Or posted somewhere else?
