So I read it and I wondered,
What if after Clark was shot in TOGOM someone, in the system, who knew the secret (
Henderson ,
Mayson , ??) arranged for Clark to be setup with a new identity.
Of course this would be without letting anyone in the support services know it is Clark Kent, after all they are used to not knowing who they are hiding.
This would allow Clark to start over somewhere else with a full set of supporting papers and a checkable back trail.
