Oh, I really hope so!!! grovel

You have me completely hooked and in love with this story, DC notworthy . The feel of it, the imagery--the stable, Clark's room, their clothing, the time period. It's so enjoyable to imagine Lois and Clark experiencing these events.

We know Clark is head over heels over Lois--and I really do believe that Lois is falling rather quickly for Clark love. She is so aware of their connection and realizes just how much she needs Clark in her life.

Their conversation in Clark's room was oozing with chemistry. Amazing! hyper

You've done such a great job, DC! Counting down the days till you post again!

"Where's Clark?" "Right here."

...two simple sentences--with so much meaning.

Very Lady Chatterly's Lover. Lois and the Stablehand.

Clark's quarters sound more guest room than servant's quarters though, which were usually small, cramped and shared. Lois is quickly going to lose her reputation as a virtuous young woman if she continues to visit a servant in his quarters. That just wasn't done. Ever. Especially if she sits on his bed. Just going into his room as an unmarried (or married woman) is enough to ruin her good name. Yes, she's certainly breaking all the rules for this young man who rescued her sister.

Poor Lois. She wants to believe that Clark liked her for herself instead of someone to woo, as all the other guys, and yet, the only reason Clark hasn't stated that he'd like to woo (and marry) her is because he knows that it's impossible due to their stations in life. She is so lonely and hopeless, I just want to give her a hug.

Wow, thanks for the compliments! Glad you like the story and how far removed it is from Metropolis, 1993 smile

Lois is, indeed, falling quite quickly for Clark. Which was fun to do, without her having these fears of him as her competition, etc. And I loved, loved, loved, writing their private, one on one, conversations. I hope you enjoy the ones to come!

Haven't read that one.

As for the room/visits...well, I did say I took liberties with everything. wink

Clark is kind of a "special case" in that Samuel is still feeling indebted to him for rescuing his kids. So, maybe he's got a few extra guest-type rooms to spare, so he gives one to Clark. Maybe he's a "special case" Lord in that he treats his servants particularly well. In any case, it highlights how far on the opposite spectrum he is to Luthor.

Lois visiting - definitely wouldn't have been the norm. But for fanfic - how else are they going to fall in love? wink Her sitting on the bed was me showing her level of comfort/"I'm still the lord's daughter and this is my domain". I like Lois the rule-breaker. laugh Luthor better watch out - he's got no idea how strong-willed a woman she is!

Both Lois and Clark are so, so lonely. They may come from different worlds, but they have so much in common. Kind of like our canon incarnations. (And they are literally from different worlds, those two!)

You can find my stories as Groobie on the nfic archives and Susan Young on the gfic archives. In other words, you know me as Groobie. wink

In the case of Lois' visiting Clark's room I have to side with VR. A noblewoman would never visit a man's bed chamber without being properly escorted. By such behavior she was considered 'despoiled' and was not fit to be aligned with a man of Luthor's position. Now if she were to meet him on some neutral grounds like the stables with James in tow, than she could teach him to read and write with fewer problems.

Just an observation.

So, when is Lord Tempos going to put in an appearance? It is not like that self-centered blowhard to miss an opportunity to make everyone miserable!

The story itself is great! Very much looking forward to the next part. clap

Morgana

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

Hi, Morgana!

Come to think of it, maybe, on some level, Lois WANTS her reputation to be less than stellar. It could make her less tempting to Lex! wink But, and this spoils nothing, Lex isn't concerned as much with her reputation as he is in her in general.

Lord Tempos does not physically appear in this story. He's completely off-screen in the shadows, mostly because it worked out that way when I wrote it. wink

Glad you are enjoying it!
